A Message From The Principal
Our Middle School is AMAZING!

As I begin my second year here at Aspen View Academy, I have been asked the question “What makes our Middle School special?”. That is a loaded question! I could go on for days (and pages) bragging about our middle school and all that is right about it.

As I walk through the halls of our school, I see students that are happy to be here and are glad to have a sense of normalcy returning to their school routine. Going from elementary school to middle school is a big step. However, there is plenty in middle school to keep students engaged as well as active.

Our 6th and 7th graders will return to Outdoor Education this year at YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park and Camp IdRaHaJe in Bailey. This is a wonderful time for students to form new relationships with new friends and their teachers. In the spring, our 8th graders will have the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. and New York to visit the sights and make real world connections from what they have learned in the classroom while in middle school.

We have wonderful sports programs for our middle school students. Boys soccer, girls volleyball, and co-ed cross country are up and running! Soon we will have girls and boys basketball, girls soccer and boys volleyball. The ability to have these programs as an option this year has been a wonderful outlet for our students and has helped minimize some discipline issues in the classroom.

Middle School students also have the privilege of selecting some of their classes with our electives program. They have the opportunity to be a student mentor to younger students in the classroom, or maintain our recycling program here at AVA. Students can participate in Choir or Band & Orchestra. They can try their aim at archery or try their hand at jewelry making. With almost 40 elective classes to choose from, they are sure to find something they enjoy.

In my years in education, I can honestly say that Aspen View Academy has the best teachers around! They are caring & nurturing. They are supportive in their approach, yet allow your student to be a risk taker. They set the standards high, and push your student to achieve their best. You will not find a better group of teachers anywhere!

However, I have left out one very important component to the question “What makes our Middle School special?”. Our students. Each and every one of them are special. Each of them is an important piece to our middle school puzzle. Your student is why we do what we do. Not just in middle school, but all grade levels here at AVA. Everything we do here at AVA is for your student. We will continue to support the growth and learning of your middle school student. If you don’t currently have a middle schooler, we can’t wait to share with them everything that makes AVA Middle School special.

Early Pick Up Guidelines
If you need to pick up your student early because of an appointment right after school please note the guidelines have changed due to the construction and congestion in the parking lot this year.

Volunteer Corner
Welcome to another school year at Aspen View Academy. We have a lot of volunteer opportunities so keep a look out for Sign-up Genius', Newsletter announcements and emails from the PTO. Below is an excerpt from the AVA Handbook.

VOLUNTEERING COMMITMENT – AVA believes that the success of each student will be a shared responsibility of students, teachers, parents, staff, and community leaders. Volunteers enhance the school and its culture and character through their involvement. Accordingly, a strong family involvement program will be implemented. AVA expects 30 volunteer hours per family per school year. Single-parent families are expected to volunteer 15 hours per school year. The volunteer school year shall coincide with AVA’s fiscal year, and hours shall accrue from July 1 through June 30. If your family has special circumstances that make it difficult for you to meet the expected volunteer hours, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator. Many volunteer opportunities exist within AVA’s PTO. The PTO is an organization comprised of parent volunteers for the purpose of providing community support, fundraising and planning various events within our school community.

Pre-registration is required prior to volunteering. Please visit the Raptor Volunteer site, as this only needs to be completed one time. Once completed we will need you to bring your ID in to scan and link to your profile.

To log volunteer hours, please visit the Volunteer Portal.

These volunteer opportunities can also be found on the volunteer page of our website.
