A message from the AVA Board

As I enter my third year on the Aspen View Board of Directors, I continue to be amazed at the highly committed and passionate staff, administration, and parents we have here at AVA. Our teachers and support staff work tirelessly to provide engaging and effective instruction to our students in a safe and caring environment. Our administrators are responsible for the day-to-day operations of our school, setting academic standards, and ensuring our school functions within our Mission and Vision.

This brings me to our role as your Governing Board. We do not manage the day-to-day operations within the school. Since the founding of AVA, it has been the intention of the Board to set the mission and vision of the school, and then to partner with the Administration in a way that helps them to achieve the underlying objectives within both. It is also important to remember that your board members are full-time working professionals with a wide variety of experiences and backgrounds. In fact, this diverse background has had a lot to do with the success of our school, and our varied opinions and insight have helped to navigate challenges we have faced as a Board. Lastly, our board members are all parents with the same desire as you, to put our kids in a school that focuses on developing the whole child in a differentiated environment, as AVA does so well. Click here for more information on each of your Governing Board Members, and if you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Coffee with The Principal

In the newsletter a couple weeks ago I mentioned that I am going to start having a monthly coffee with the principal. This will be a great opportunity to come in person and hear what is going on at the school and to ask questions that you may have. It will also be a great chance to meet some new parents.

The first coffee with the principal will be on Wednesday, September 13th at 8:30am in the cafeteria. Coffee will be provided!

Please click here to sign up so we know how many to plan for.

Congratulations to all of our parent volunteers and our PTO for starting the school year strong! Our volunteers have logged 267 hours in the month of August. Every month we will be doing a monthly drawing to win a gift card or AVA swag. Please visit our volunteer page to see upcoming opportunities.

Our volunteer of the month is Becky Spencer! Please stop by the front office to pick up your gift card.

September PTO Pipeline is live & updated for September. Check it out for upcoming events + volunteer opportunities.

Student ID's Each Student Gets One

Every student received an ID card when they had their picture taken last month. If they did not receive their ID this is because they may not have had their picture taken yet this year. Students will receive their first ID for free. If they haven't had their picture taken yet they will still get the opportunity to get their picture taken on RETAKE Day on October 11th.

If you need to request a replacement ID your student will need to bring $5 cash or check to the front office AND complete this form. Replacement orders will be sent every other week to Studio 5. They can take up to 10 business days to get a replacement once they receive the order.

Do you want to get involved in the school but don’t have a lot of time? The School Accountability Committee (SAC) has several openings for new members. The SAC is a sub-committee of the Board of Directors and meets minimally 4 times a year to review policies, implement the Feedback surveys, and perform any other tasks requested by the Board. Each member serves a two-year term. If you are interested, please join the first meeting of the year for the SAC on September 20th in the AVA library at 4pm. Questions? Please email jessicashepler13@gmail.com

Let's make this school year the most awesome one yet!

GoGuardian Parent is now available for the 2023-24 School Year

Aspen View Academy uses GoGuardian for web filtering of students. As a parent, you have access to the GoGuardian Parent app, which provides you with insight into your students' online activity when on school-owned devices.

The GoGuardian Parent app provides an overview of your children's online activity on school-managed devices and accounts - this overview includes the apps, extensions, documents, and websites your student visited.

What is included in this app:

  • Top 5 overview of your student's online activity
  • Any teacher interventions related to your student's online activity (5th-8th grade only)
  • 30-day overview of your student's online activity

Go to the app store for your mobile device and download the GoGuardian Parent app. Sign in with the email address listed for you in Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Access to GoGuardian is tied to this account for security.

Go to the AVA website for more information.

Questions? Please email techsupport@aspenviewacademy.org

The Aspen View Academy Community Business Directory will be a resource for all families and staff to use to find local businesses. Please submit one form per business. Forms must be submitted by September 15th, 2023 at 11:59pm. Please submit a new form if you were part of the directory last school year.

Please click on the picture to register and find out more information on Landsharks. This is open to K-6th grades.

Volunteer Hours = Fun Family Night

Aspen View Academy strongly encourages all families to perform 30 approved hours (15 hours for single parents) of volunteer service. It's a fantastic way to support your students and get to know other parents, as well as the AVA staff.

All AVA families who have completed 10 service hours by November 30th or (5 hours for single parents) will be invited to a fun family night hosted by the PTO held in December. More information on this fun event will be coming in early November.

We will also be having a fun family night at the end of the school year for those families who have met their hours for the school year.
