A Message From The Principal
New Family Referral Program

AVA families are uniquely qualified to speak about their experiences at Aspen View Academy and just how amazing the educational experience has been for their child(ren). As an existing family at AVA, you have experienced firsthand just how amazing our staff, curriculum, and student support has been. You are part of an academic community where the needs of children are our highest priority and where they are challenged and given the resources and support to meet those challenges.

Aspen View Academy offers prospective parent meetings throughout the year, but I realize the best recruiting tool we can offer is that of our existing parents. You have had the opportunity to experience what AVA has done for your child and what an amazing school we have. Hopefully, you would want your friends and neighbors to experience the same academic greatness and success that you have and would happily refer a potential new family to AVA.

As a thank you, we will waive one student consumable fee for any new family who enrolls a child at AVA due to a referral from you.

Who Can Make a Referral?

Any family who currently has a student enrolled at AVA is eligible to make a referral.

Who can be referred?

Any family who does not currently have a student enrolled at AVA and who accepts and enrolls for the 20/21 school year. Unfortunately, we cannot make this retroactive to include families who have already enrolled at AVA.

How do I refer someone?

The process of referring a new family is simple. Just inform the new family that they must mention that they have been referred to AVA by you – we will take care of the rest. The new family can also mention who they were referred by when dropping off their registration paperwork. Once they enroll and their child begins attending school, we will waive a student fee for you.

A BIG Thank You to all students who entered the Kodable.com Fuzz Costume Contest! We had over 100 entries from our school alone!!

I am excited to share that 4 students' designs were chosen to be a permanent costume option on the website. Congratulations to our Website Winners: Carrington Lemp, Alenna Wahl (not pictured), Charlotte Rodriguez de Almeida, and Alina Welton.

I would also like to congratulate winners from the AVA contest: 1st Place - Mason George, 2nd Place - Brooke Christine, 3rd Place - Addison Bell.

Also, a special thank you to Promenade Chick-fil-a for donating prizes.

All contest entries will be on display in the lobby through conferences.

Morning Carpool Reminders

Morning carpool is from 7:45am – 8:10am

We are seeing an increase in the number of tardy students in the morning. As a reminder, the morning drop-off begins at 7:45am (5 minutes earlier than last year) and continues to 8:10am. If your child arrives in the building after 8:12am, they will be marked tardy.

We added the extra 5 minute drop-off window to accommodate the increase in student enrollment. We have, however, noticed very few cars arriving on the property between 7:45am and 7:55am. Also, we have observed quite a few cars arriving on AVA property after 8:10am, meaning your child will be tardy. School officially begins at 8:15am, so it is important to have kids in class and ready to go. Classes begin at 8:15am and having students arrive to class tardy is a distraction that can easily be avoided.

Thank you for making Aspen View Academy the best school!

Board Election Process

If you would like to be considered for the elected 3-year term on the AVA Board of Directors, please complete the nomination form. The nomination will require 10 signatures of eligible voters: AVA parents and staff. The form must be turned in to the AVA front office by Monday, March 16th at 4 pm. When submitted, the form will be time stamped, and you will be given a receipt acknowledging acceptance of the  nomination form

Candidates are required to submit a  campaign questionnaire to answer a few basic questions about Board service. When submitted, the answers may not exceed two pages and must be submitted by Monday, March 16th to Ryan Hybarger  rhybarger@aspenviewacademy.org. The campaign questionnaire for each candidate will be posted on the school website and be linked to the Newsletter by March 19th.

A candidate Q&A forum will occur in early to mid April and will provide the AVA community the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about each candidate. The specific day and time of the Q&A forum will be announced at a later date.

The election voting will take place at the school on April 22nd and 23rd. Early and late voting times will be April 22nd, 7:00 - 8:00am and April 23rd 4:00 - 5:30pm. Ballots may also be submitted to the front office during normal school operational hours. Each parent and AVA staff member may vote. If an eligible voter has plans to be out of town for the election days, an absentee ballot may be cast ahead of time. No Proxy voting will be allowed.
The election committee requests that all candidates and members of the AVA community abide by the following expectations:

  • Focus on philosophy, policy, and issues
  • No personal attacks
  • No campaigning on school property
  • Keep the campaign positive in nature, reflecting the values of AVA

The election committee reserves the right to disqualify any candidate who fails to abide by these expectations.

The AVA Election Committee will tabulate the votes and announce the results in the April 30th Newsletter. The individual with the most votes will be officially recognized at the May 14th Board meeting and will begin his/her service at that time.

Please contact  Ryan Hybarger with any questions or additional points of clarification.
