Over the past few months we have been working with the Town of Castle Rock Streets Department and Castle Rock Police Department on coming up with a solution to the parking and student safety issue on Low Meadow Blvd. We have submitted and attempted several solutions, but ultimately the Town of Castle Rock has selected their option.
The Town of Castle Rock Street Calming Committee, a joint committee of the Streets Division and Castle Rock Police Department, has implemented a no parking zone along the Southside of Low Meadow Blvd from Tree Top Drive to the entrance to Aspen View Academy (by the digital sign and Deputy Zach Parrish Park). I have included a map and the sections in red are a no parking zone. I have also included what the signs look like.
Their decision to make this entire section a no parking zone was based on observations over a couple weeks of them seeing parents and students cross Low Meadow Blvd from the Northside to the Southside outside of the crosswalk. They have witnessed students and parents enter Low Meadow Blvd from in between cars making it a dangerous situation for vehicles traveling on Low Meadow Blvd. The committee advised that they cannot make even a section of the Southside a parking zone because the risk is too high for an accident to occur due to what they witnessed.
We advised the committee that we would notify our families of the new no parking zones and the school has no jurisdiction over enforcing the no parking zones on Low Meadow Blvd as it is a public street. They understood and advised that Castle Rock Police Department Traffic Division will be notified to increase patrols in the area.
We ask that you set the example for your children and the community, so please do not park in the no parking zones.
