Dear Parents,

When is the last time you thought of volunteering or volunteerism? How can it make a difference at our school? Many of you know that Aspen View Academy would not exist had it not been for numerous community members donating countless hours of their time.

Upon reflecting where AVA started from and where it is now, we cannot deny the importance of each of our families who have contributed their time to make our school a better place. Whether you are helping AVA students out of their car in carpool, helping them with their lunches, listening while young students learn to read, assisting teachers in the classroom, or organizing/helping a school fundraiser, none of these things would be possible without our volunteers.

Last year, the parent community collectively logged 10,000 volunteer hours for AVA. This is incredible! It is the equivalent of hiring 7 full time employees for the school. However, the benefit is greater than the monetary value the school saved. Having parent volunteers in our school shows our children that we take an interest in and value their education. Moreover, we are teaching by example that it is important to participate in the larger community.

To all of the AVA parents and family members, Thank You! Thank you for taking the time to help. Thank you for sharing your talents. Thank you for taking the time to try something new. Thank you for assisting with something that may be less than glamorous. Thank you for building our community. Thank you for showing you care. We could not be the amazing school that we are without you, and we truly appreciate your efforts.

Recommend the Next Pay For Dress of Choice Fundraiser

We’ve received some great recommendations for future charities. You still have time to submit your recommendations on charities to consider for the next Pay to Dress of Choice, by September 30th. We will randomly select and communicate the charity by mid-October. Please contact [email protected] with your charity recommendations.
Help our Wolf Fun Run!

We are days away from our Wolf Run. Please keep those pledges coming in on www.funrun.com. Please share with family and friends to get your student’s laps to really count!
One More PTO Main Staff Member Needed!

The PTO needs a volunteer coordinator for the 2019-2020 school year. This person will be the prime contact for all assigned room parents, will create sign-up geniuses for the PTO activities and coordinate the monthly staff luncheons. You will also be required to attend the PTO meeting, which occurs once a month. This is a great way to get in your hours for the year, stay closely tied to the school, and be part of an amazing team. If you are interested, please contact [email protected].
September Spirit Night at Chipotle

Join us on Tuesday, September 24th from 4pm to 8pm. Bring the flyer, show the facebook event on your phone or simply mention AVA, to ensure 33% of proceeds are donated to our school. See you there!

To earn even more for AVA, the Wolf Shack will be selling Chipotle gift cards. Every $10 gift card purchased will give AVA $1.00 … and then using it at Chipotle for Spirit Night will give AVA another 33% of their purchase !
Giving Cards Coming to the Wolf Shack soon!

The Wolf Shack will soon be stocked with giving (gift) cards from Lands End, spirit night restaurants and local retail shops. For each card sold a percentage will go back to AVA. It’s a great way to support the school, get gifts for family, friends and teachers! New inventory coming soon!

If you plan on going to Chipotle for Spirit Night on Tuesday, the Wolf Shack will have Chipotle gift cards available tomorrow. That means for every $10 gift card purchased, AVA will get $1.00 plus the 33% Chipotle will give back for Spirit Night.
