A Message From the PTO
Dear AVA Parents,

Can you believe that we have already completed two months of school, and that Thanksgiving break is just 4 weeks away?!?! We wanted to take a minute to thank you for all your support thus far. If you have not heard, the Dance PAWty was an overwhelming success, raising nearly $56,000 directly for the school. Mrs. Miller’s class raised a whopping $4745 and will celebrate with a class party. Our amazing administration team agreed to a super-soaking from kids and staff, as a thank you for all their hard work. Check out the video here .

We also wanted to thank all the families that were able to donate to our staff appreciation fund. We were proud to have offered our teachers a food truck for lunch during their professional development day, as well as weekly mailbox treats, for the entire staff, to let them know how much we appreciate them.

In the next week, we will be starting to offer our Used Uniform Sale on Facebook. Please join the group so that you can take part in this great way to buy previously owned uniforms (AVA Uniforms Buy/Sell/Trade ONLY). This is not a school run forum, but we will begin selling used uniforms here and for these items the funds will benefit the school. We will be sending out a sign-up genius for ways to help shortly.

We also want to give you a heads up to start planning for the holidays now. And we have a way to make this year’s staff gift giving easy! We are planning a Christmas Cash drive, where you can send cash or gift cards for staff members that take care of your kiddos (think food service team, counselors, custodial team etc.) You will be able to give cash to specific staff or make a general donation that will be shared. With 120 staff members to honor, every dollar adds up. Each staff member will receive a card with the names of all the families that contributed. More details will be coming soon.

As always, feel free to reach out if you have any ideas on how we can do a better job of taking care of the staff or the families.

With gratitude,

Kirsten, Winter, and the entire PTO team

Announcements
If your family is in need of some assistance this upcoming holiday season, please reach out to our school counselor, Mrs. Ness. We have a few resources available that may be able to help ease some of the financial burden during this time of year. All information will be kept confidential. You may reach her through email at kness@aspenviewacademy.org or call the school.
Virtual Uniform Sale coming soon:

Please join this Facebook page if you haven't already. You can sell your items at anytime, and we will plan a few virtual sales through this group, too. Join today.
Aspen View Academy would like to start using a new tool as part of your students’ Google Classroom. The new app/extension is called Kami. It allows students to edit PDFs, mark them up, add texts, shapes and images. It allows students to dynamically complete classroom assignments and is a great tool for eLearners. (For more information on Kami please go to https://www.kamiapp.com/).

The Kami app has been evaluated according to school guidelines and approved by the school administration because of the learning opportunities that will be provided. Per DCSD and Aspen View Academy guidelines, we are required to obtain parent permission to use the Kami app for all students under the age of 13. (The Kami App Student Data Privacy Policy can be found here.)

Please complete this online permission form for every student currently enrolled at Aspen View Academy by October 8th.

If you have any questions, please contact your assistant principal. Thank you!

Spirit Night at Panda Express 10/28

Help us have another successful turnout from noon to 10pm, this time at Panda Express. You can stop by the restaurant and show the flyer. Unfortunately online ordering is temporarily unavailable at this time. 20% of event sales will be donated to AVA.

Due to technical difficulties, we are not able to add Happy Grams to the marquee at this time. We are awaiting a part and will let you know when it is back up and running. Thank you for your patience.
Middle School Sports
Middle School Sports

Due to the concern for the safety of our students, and following CHSAA guidelines, all middle school sports will be put on pause until January. We are currently in the process of reformatting seasons, so we can have an opportunity to still participate in all sports that AVA typically offers. If your student is interested in participating in a sport in the spring, please consider turning in their sports physical this fall, to avoid the rush.

If you have any questions please contact Lindsay Alguire at lalguire@aspenviewacademy.org.
