Governing Board Openings

Per Aspen View Academy By-laws, two seats on the Aspen View Academy Governing Board will be ending on May 1, 2020. One of the seats is an elected seat. The other seat will be appointed by the AVA Board of Directors at the May 14, 2020 meeting.

Board Election Process

If you would like to be considered for the elected 3-year term on the AVA Board of Directors, please complete the nomination form. The nomination will require 10 signatures of eligible voters: AVA parents and staff. The form must be turned in to the AVA front office by Monday, March 16th at 4 pm. When submitted, the form will be time stamped, and you will be given a receipt acknowledging acceptance of the nomination form

Candidates are required to submit a campaign questionnaire to answer a few basic questions about Board service. When submitted, the answers may not exceed two pages and must be submitted by Monday, March 16th to Ryan Hybarger [email protected]. The campaign questionnaire for each candidate will be posted on the school website and be linked to the Newsletter by March 19th.

A candidate Q&A forum will occur in early to mid April and will provide the AVA community the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about each candidate. The specific day and time of the Q&A forum will be announced at a later date.

The election voting will take place at the school on April 22nd and 23rd. Early and late voting times will be April 22nd, 7:00 - 8:00am and April 23rd 4:00 - 5:30pm. Ballots may also be submitted to the front office during normal school operational hours. Each parent and AVA staff member may vote. If an eligible voter has plans to be out of town for the election days, an absentee ballot may be cast ahead of time. No Proxy voting will be allowed.
The election committee requests that all candidates and members of the AVA community abide by the following expectations:

  • Focus on philosophy, policy, and issues
  • No personal attacks
  • No campaigning on school property
  • Keep the campaign positive in nature, reflecting the values of AVA

The election committee reserves the right to disqualify any candidate who fails to abide by these expectations.

The AVA Election Committee will tabulate the votes and announce the results in the April 30th Newsletter. The individual with the most votes will be officially recognized at the May 14th Board meeting and will begin his/her service at that time.

Please contact Ryan Hybarger with any questions or additional points of clarification.

Wear your blue uniform on March 5th in support of students fighting CVS (Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome)

Students and adults alike in our community fight this exhaustive disorder, daily. CVS affects people in all age groups, all over the world. CVS often prevents individuals and their families from enjoying normal activities. To show solidarity, please wear your blue uniform tops to school on March 5th which is CVS International Awareness Day. Thank you for your support!
Please login to your parent portal to be sure the photo of your student is the current 19/20 picture. This is the picture that will be in the yearbook. If there is not a 19/20 photo, then your child will not be in the yearbook with their class page. Please email dgarcia@aspenviewacademy if you feel the picture posted is incorrect.
Elementary School Talent Show

Mark your calendars for this year’s Elementary School Talent Show, Friday April 10th at 6:30. Auditions will be held on Monday, March 9 starting at 3:45 in Mrs. Ericson’s room (You may also submit a video audition). Click here to sign up audition and/or to volunteer.
Morning Carpool Reminders

Morning carpool is from 7:45am – 8:10am

We are seeing an increase in the number of tardy students in the morning. As a reminder, the morning drop-off begins at 7:45am (5 minutes earlier than last year) and continues to 8:10am. If your child arrives in the building after 8:12am, they will be marked tardy.

We added the extra 5 minute drop-off window to accommodate the increase in student enrollment. We have, however, noticed very few cars arriving on the property between 7:45am and 7:55am. Also, we have observed quite a few cars arriving on AVA property after 8:10am, meaning your child will be tardy. School officially begins at 8:15am, so it is important to have kids in class and ready to go. Classes begin at 8:15am and having students arrive to class tardy is a distraction that can easily be avoided.

Thank you for making Aspen View Academy the best school!
