A Message From The Principal
Good Afternoon AVA community –

I hope everyone is doing well as we continue to move forward with remote learning and navigating through these unprecedented times. I cannot tell you how much I miss seeing all of our students at school. I want to remind everyone that tomorrow Friday, April 17 is a professional development day for the teachers. Believe it or not, we will be planning for the 2020-2021 school year which cannot get here soon enough. It is also intended to be a day off for students (and parents) and hopefully provide you some time to decompress from remote learning and enjoy a three day weekend. The teaching staff have been instructed to not conduct any video chats or push out any lessons or school work at all on Friday.

Thank you for your patience and grace as we have adjusted to a new way of doing things. I cannot express my sincere gratitude enough to our staff, our parents, and our students for making this as successful as it has been. School may be closed, but we are still awesome and AVA Strong!!!

Thank you!

Bob Barber
Principal

Messages From The Board
Snippets from the April Board Meeting

  • At Principal Barber’s recommendation, the board approved the extension of pay to hourly employees through the end of their respective agreements
  • The shift to remote learning has gone extremely well; teachers are committed to continuing to show grace & patience with students during this process and we ask that parents continue to show grace and patience with teachers as well.
  • AVA will complete the architectural and construction design for the building expansion; with uncertainty around PPR for the next school year, construction activities are on hold until we have line of sight into funding for next year.
Governing Board Opening Update

The AVA Board would like to thank everyone that expressed interest in the open Board seat, as well as those that supported Aaron in his nomination.
