You may have heard me say that the success of AVA is due to a strong partnership between the parents and the staff. I firmly believe that everything your child achieves is a direct correlation to the dedication and commitment of the AVA staff and parents. It is truly an honor to serve the parents and students of Aspen View Academy. Please take the following poem to heart and its message and be reminded of how honored we all are to serve you!

I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind, and they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher; the tools she used
Were books and music and art;
One a parent with a guiding hand,
And a gentle, loving heart.

Day after day the teacher toiled
With a touch that was deft and sure,
While the parent labored by her side
And polished and smoothed it over

And when at last their work was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought,
For the things they had molded into the child,
Could neither be sold or bought.

And each agreed they would have failed
If they had worked alone,
For behind the parent stood the school,
And behind the teacher, the home.

Notes from the Nurse

Parents should be aware of the early signs and symptoms of illness and keep their student home if you observe any of the following:
  • Decreased activity – droopy, tired appearing
  • Irritable behavior – sleepy
  • Sore throat / swollen glands
  • Runny nose / cough
  • Skin eruptions / rashes (students with un-diagnosed rashes are not allowed to be in school)
  • Nausea / vomiting / diarrhea caused by illness
  • Abdominal pain
  • Fever (100º or higher accompanied by symptoms of illness).

Parents can help:
  • Keep your student home when he or she has signs / symptoms of illness
  • Give school office current emergency contact information
  • Make arrangements with relatives/friends to take care of sick children if unable to do so yourself
  • Please contact the school if your child comes down with a contagious illness such as strep throat, chicken pox, pertussis, diarrhea illness, etc., so we can track trends. Your confidentiality will be maintained.

Thank you for your help in providing a safe and healthy school environment.

Middle School Sports
Middle School Sports

Due to the concern for the safety of our students, and following CHSAA guidelines, all middle school sports will be put on pause until January. We are currently in the process of reformatting seasons, so we can have an opportunity to still participate in all sports that AVA typically offers. If your student is interested in participating in a sport in the spring, please consider turning in their sports physical this fall, to avoid the rush.
