A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents –

Schools having Halloween parties have been a fun activity for students for years. I still have great memories of my Halloween parties when I was in elementary school. Last year, that tradition returned to AVA and it was a huge success – students, staff, and parents have fun! Please be assured that these parties are simply a fun way to let kids be kids and enjoy an afternoon to let loose a little bit in a controlled environment. For those who do not wish their child to participate in the Halloween party, we will have an alternate activity planned for them or you are welcome to pick them up early from school.

Halloween parties for K-5 students will take place on Thursday, Oct. 31st From 1:30pm – 3:00pm.  Students will have a parade through the school before the parties begin. The students' parade will follow an established route. Parties will commence immediately following the parade. Students do not have to bring a costume if they do not want to. Once the parties are done, you are free to take your child home.

PLEASE NOTE: Your child does not have to dress in costume; that is your decision. No child will be forced to be in the Halloween parade. Please let the classroom teacher know if your child will not be participating in the parade or party

Costume guidelines:
  • No weapons, blood, gore or make-up.
  • Costumes should be conservative in style.
  • Masks (for the parade only) are permitted as long as they follow the guidelines.
  • Kids will bring their costumes to school to change in to before the parade.
  • Inappropriate props such as blood, plastic swords, guns, knives, and weapons of any kinds are not allowed.
  • Students should NOT wear their costumes to school. Time will be provided to change into costumes.
  • No masks are to be worn in the classrooms – they are permitted during the parade.

Announcements

October 2nd is our official Count Day. Please do your best to have your students at school on this day.
Morning Carpool Reminders

Morning carpool is from 7:45am – 8:10am

We are seeing an increase in the number of tardy students in the morning. As a reminder, the morning drop-off begins at 7:45am (5 minutes earlier than last year) and continues to 8:10am. If your child arrives in the building after 8:12am they will be marked tardy.

We added the extra 5 minute drop-off window to accommodate the increase in student enrollment. We have, however, noticed very few cars arriving on the property between 7:45am and 7:55am. Also, we have observed quite a few cars arriving on AVA property after 8:10am meaning your child will be tardy. School officially begins at 8:15am so it is important to have kids in class and ready to go. Classes begin at 8:15am and having students arrive to class tardy is a distraction that can easily be avoided.

Thank you for making Aspen View Academy the best school!
Our Make-up picture day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2nd. It is important that all students are photographed in order to have them in the yearbook.

If your student was not photographed during Meet and Greets or if you would like their picture retaken, please email [email protected] (if you haven't already done so) with your students first name, last name, grade and homeroom teacher. Students should be in school uniform. If you have not received your photos or have any questions about your photos, please contact DR Photo directly at 303-346-2772.

Gratitude Poetry Contest Winner

Congratulations to Adela Miranda. Her submission was chosen as the top Gratitude Poem.

Gratitude is an old woman in need of a helping hand
And a kind gentle soul coming to help without any command
Gratitude is being thankful for everything that you own
It doesn’t matter the expensive clothing brand or the latest iPhone
Gratitude is when your parents care for you every single week
Clearly a little break or day to themselves is what they seek
You take notice that sometimes they get very, very stressed
So you decide to make them a card that says, ‘Mom and Dad, you’re the best!’
Even something as simple as a little thank you
Will make someone’s day two times better, it’s true

Thank you to all of our students who submitted a poem last week! AVA students are so creative and thoughtful.
