Habits/Traditions/Holidays...BREAK
As we gear up for the holidays and all of the tinsel and tunes greet us to announce the holiday season is here, we get to revel in the home baked goods, the family traditions, the decorations, the sounds, the smells and the tastes that make this time of year come alive and help us to reminisce about past holiday seasons. All of the rich traditions this time of year can help us to feel connected. We have the opportunity to spend time with our immediate families, with our extended families, and with our larger community. We have so many opportunities to give and to teach our children about giving. We can build traditions with our families and with our communities that become part of who we are. This time of year the heart of a community becomes even more visible through the special traditions carried on year after year, building not only individual memories, but communal ones too.
We see this sense of community and connectedness in the classes here at school too. Kindergarten teachers bake gingerbread men with their classes, elves invade classrooms in sweet and mischievous ways, decorations are hung, ugly sweaters are donned and you can feel anticipation and excitement as winter break nears. The rhythms of the season give us the chance to both take time to be merry makers and enjoy the slower moments of downtime and rest with our loved ones. We want to take a minute to thank all of the AVA staff, students, parents and community for taking the time to make this time of year special for us all through all the traditions and memories we build together.
We wish you a joyous holiday season!

Welcome to another school year at Aspen View Academy. We have a lot of volunteer opportunities so keep a look out for Sign-up Genius', Newsletter announcements and emails from the PTO. Below is an excerpt from the AVA Handbook.
VOLUNTEERING COMMITMENT – AVA believes that the success of each student will be a shared responsibility of students, teachers, parents, staff, and community leaders. Volunteers enhance the school and its culture and character through their involvement. Accordingly, a strong family involvement program will be implemented. AVA expects 30 volunteer hours per family per school year. Single-parent families are expected to volunteer 15 hours per school year. The volunteer school year shall coincide with AVA’s fiscal year, and hours shall accrue from July 1 through June 30. If your family has special circumstances that make it difficult for you to meet the expected volunteer hours, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator. Many volunteer opportunities exist within AVA’s PTO. The PTO is an organization comprised of parent volunteers for the purpose of providing community support, fundraising and planning various events within our school community.
Pre-registration is required prior to volunteering. Please visit the Raptor Volunteer site, as this only needs to be completed one time. Once completed we will need you to bring your ID in to scan and link to your profile.
These volunteer opportunities can also be found on the volunteer page of our website.
