The Spirit of Giving:

“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.” ― H. Jackson Brown Jr.

The quote above really does illustrate the values of AVA and our students. I am continually impressed with the generosity and character of AVA students. It is very important to give back to the community, especially when it benefits people who are less fortunate than us. Time after time, the AVA community has answered to call to help those in need or those who are not as fortunate as us. This spirit of giving was so evident in AVA’s efforts to help with the Castle Rock Adaptive Recreation toy/gift giving campaign.

Over the past three years, AVA parent, Donna Coto (an event photographer), has been partnering with The Town of Castle Rock and special needs families in the Castle Rock area to give special needs kids and their families a chance to have their picture taken with Santa.

When Aspen View Academy learned of this event and mission we wanted to be involved. In the name of compassion, kindness, and service to others; AVA staff, students, and families stepped up and collected hundreds of toys and gift cards for special needs children in the community.

The partnership with Castle Rock Adaptive Recreation Program Coordinator, Rebecca Erickson, has offered up the Adaptive Recreation Mobile for the toy gift-giving. This will occur on Saturday, 12-14-19, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. It is located in the back lot of the Castle Rock Recreation Center located at 2301 Woodlands Blvd. It is the lower parking lot on the west side near the outdoor slides on Scott Blvd.

We will have some middle school student volunteers from Aspen View Academy along with school administration and parents helping give toys to special needs families. A sign up with time slots was sent out to those families in need with 15 families every 30 minutes.

The mission is simple, support our local Castle Rock families with special needs through gift giving and capturing heartwarming moments.

Thank you for your generosity with your gifts of toys, gift cards, and time.

Purchase Holiday Gifts at the Wolf Shack!

You can help AVA by purchasing your gift cards at the Wolf Shack. A percentage of the purchase price goes back to AVA -- what a wonderful way to help your school!!  And, for this holiday season, Rachelle Nye and Kristin Arabally are teaming up to make the purchase even easier than ever.  Just email ptosecretary@aspenviewacademy.org and they'll work with you to do an electronic purchase and arrange a good pickup time that fits your schedule!  In addition, if you want to purchase gifts for your child's teachers but don't want to spend time looking up their favorites - you're in luck because the PTO already has a compiled list. In your email, just name the staff that you'd like to purchase a gift for and they'll help you identify the "favorites" available for purchase!
Morning Carpool Reminders

Morning carpool is from 7:45am – 8:10am

We are seeing an increase in the number of tardy students in the morning. As a reminder, the morning drop-off begins at 7:45am (5 minutes earlier than last year) and continues to 8:10am. If your child arrives in the building after 8:12am they will be marked tardy.

We added the extra 5 minute drop-off window to accommodate the increase in student enrollment. We have, however, noticed very few cars arriving on the property between 7:45am and 7:55am. Also, we have observed quite a few cars arriving on AVA property after 8:10am meaning your child will be tardy. School officially begins at 8:15am so it is important to have kids in class and ready to go. Classes begin at 8:15am and having students arrive to class tardy is a distraction that can easily be avoided.

Thank you for making Aspen View Academy the best school!
