A Message From the Principal
Thank you for the feedback everyone has provided regarding changes to the uniform policy. While the initial changes may have seemed limiting, that was not the intent. Based on feedback and input over the last several weeks, we hope that we can offer an approach that will help to ensure modesty while allowing an alternative to the requirement for calf or full-length leggings.

The initial change required full length or calf length leggings/capris under skirts and skorts. We understand that this could be uncomfortable, especially on hot days and worked hard to add something that would be more comfortable. We are pleased to announce that students may wear knee length (at the knee or just above the knee) leggings, bike shorts, or yoga pants under all skirts or skorts.

Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to an amazing school year.

Building Guidelines

AVA uses the Raptor System to screen all adults entering the building. The safety of our students is our highest priority, and the Raptor System provides a consistent way to aid in keeping away people who may present a danger to our students. ALL adults entering the building on school days during the hours of 7:30-3:45 must have a driver’s license, state ID, or passport to enter the building. We appreciate you not asking us to make exceptions. Thank you in advance for supporting school safety protocols at AVA.

Kindergarten students and new students may have their parent walk them to class on the first day of school only (parent must check in the front office with their ID). After that, you may find it helpful to drop your little ones off at the middle doors. There will be paraprofessionals at the door to help your student get to class if needed.
At AVA we use the Raptor System to check in volunteers and track hours. Every adult will need to complete the volunteer registration online through the Raptor System. The registration will only need to be completed one time, but your ID is still required to enter the building. Click here for the link to pre-register.
"Hello AVA Families, Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! As a reminder, the Uniform Policy has been updated. Please review the policy before heading back to school. A bit of clarification to the addition of leggings is found below. Feel free to email the Uniform Committee with any questions.

*If skirts, skorts, jumpers, and dresses are worn and are above the knee in length (despite being labeled as at the knee in the catalog), it is required to have either opaque tights, leggings, or bike shorts underneath.

*The PE uniform has been removed as a mandatory item for middle school.

*Hats cannot be worn inside the building on uniform dress days or free dress days.

*An acknowledgment page on the uniform policy was added which needs to be signed and returned. Your student may not participate in the theme/dress of choice day(s) until this is completed and returned.

Have a wonderful and happy 2019-2020 school year!
