Asheville metro unemployment rate 3.8%, AVL metro holds 6th highest unemployment rate of any NC metro.

Among the metro areas, Asheville had the 6th highest unemployment rate. Rocky Mount had the highest rate at 5.3% (as of June 2025) while Raleigh had the lowest at 3.2%. Edgecombe County has the highest unemployment rate of any NC county at 5.8%. Currituck County has the lowest unemployment at 2.7%.
