ANNOUNCEMENTS
TALENT IS COMING!!!
TOMORROW NIGHT the fellowship hall of Altadena Valley Presbyterian will be transformed into a showcase of the greatest display of talent that has ever been assembled! It has been nine years since our church had what was billed then as an UN-TALENT show. Now, the Yakama mission trip team is proud to bring you the second UN-TALENT show that is well worth the decade wait! Do you like singing? We’ve got you covered. Maybe you’re more of a fan of instrumentals. Check. Not a music fan but more of a live comedy person? You won’t be disappointed. Now, I can tell, there are a few of you thinking right now, “yeah, but what I really want is a puppet show with magic.” Well, May 21 will be your lucky day! Desserts and snacks will be served by the Yakama mission trip team members, who are also doing the behind the scenes work to make this night memorable. Admission is free but there will be an opportunity to tip your servers, with all proceeds going to help send our team of 30 out to Washington state in July. Make plans to join us at 6:30 PM in the fellowship hall for a night of food, fellowship, and fun!
FACILITIES MANAGER POSITION
Interviews are now being conducted for this position. Please pray for the interview committee as they review the candidates.
KITCHEN MINISTRIES COORDINATOR
As events are getting back to a regular routine, we are still in need of a Kitchen Coordinator to serve our church body. Please take this need before the Lord in prayer and refer anyone you think may be interested to Christine@avpc.org. A complete description and application can be found here: https://avpc.org/about/employment-opportunities.
CAMP SOLID ROCK
Be on the lookout! Online registrations for Camp Solid Rock, volunteer and camper, are now available. Be sure to save the dates for June 6 - 10 for this EPIC week of worship and fun! Pamphlets are in the Parlor and Welcome Center. May 22nd is the LAST day to register and secure a t-shirt!

CAMP SOLID ROCK VOLUNTEERS
Join us for a volunteer meeting on June 1 at 5:30 PM. Snacks will be provided. Please contact Catie (Catie@avpc.org) for childcare needs and other questions. If you have not registered online to serve, you may show up at the meeting, and Catie will put you to fun work.
WORSHIP CENTER TEACHERS/HELPERS NEEDED
Would you be willing to share the love of Jesus with our 4, 5, and 6 year olds this summer during either late or early service? The time commitment is 40 minutes. Contact Catie (catie@avpc.org) to join in this children’s ministry adventure.
WACK
Every great mystery needs a great detective to tackle it, tame it, and reveal the truth. Join us this summer as WACK welcomes the greatest detective of all time, the hero of countless books and movies! (Wait… We didn’t actually get that guy did we? Really? All right then!)

Come help us explore what God, worship, and mysteries all have in common with one another. Will you find the clues and deduce the answers like a true Sherlock, or will you stumble across the answers by sheer-luck? Either way, get ready for a fun-filled adventure that will surely be something to write Holmes about!

Registrations are now open for this year’s WACK week, July 5-8. Grab a pamphlet from the Welcome Center or Parlor or you can register on our website, HERE

Snack/drink donations needed! It is that time of year again when we happily support Urban Hope U-Hope Success Academy by collecting individually wrapped snacks, water bottles, and drink boxes. No peanut items, please! Items may be placed in the tubs located in the parlor. The deadline is this Sunday, May 22. Thank you for your help!

Be sure to write “Youth Mission Trip” in the Memo line.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN BIRMINGHAM
The General Assembly of the PCA denomination is being held in Birmingham this year, June 21-24, and our Presbytery (Evangel) is hosting. Volunteers are needed from every church and there are a number of ways in which you can help. To view serving opportunities, or to sign up, go to General Assembly Volunteer Sign-Up. Also, did you know that there are numerous activities planned for women, children and families? A complete schedule of the conference can be found here:General Assembly Full Schedule. Note that visitors are invited to join the worship services on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Service times vary so check the schedule.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Some have expressed interest in the past in the overtures that come before our annual denomination, referred to as the General Assembly. An overture is simply a request for action that some member of our denomination or a court of our church thinks the General Assembly should take. That Assembly will take place here in Birmingham on June 21-24. If you are interested, you can check out these overtures by following THIS LINK.
COVID PROTOCOL
Both early and late services are mask-optional in the Sanctuary; seating in the Parlor is social distanced and mask-required for the early service.
Wanted – AVPC artwork for the GALLERY
After a long Covid break, we are eager to display paintings and drawings by our church family during the summer months. If you have a painting or drawing that you would like to display, please contact Janet Friday (janetfriday@mindspring.com) and let her know. It is fine to submit painting and drawings that have been displayed in our Gallery in the past. (We have many new people who have not seen your artwork.) Please label your painting or drawing with your name, media type and the name of the artwork, then drop it off in the choir room BY MAY 31. Your piece must have either a sawtooth hanger or wire hanger. We look forward to seeing your creativity!
MISSION TRIP OPPORTUNITY
Jeremy Martin has contacted us about a unique opportunity to serve his ministry in London this summer! He is looking for a team of eight adults to help repair the ministry house in Southall, London. This team will be made up of people from other churches, not just AVPC.
For many years the ministry house's doors have been opened to Asylum Seekers, Refugees, or people who needed help getting back on their feet. All who come to the house receive an open invitation and the love of Jesus. Now, parts of the exterior have become damaged and are in need of repair. The project will consist of painting, construction, and landscaping at the property. There will also be guided exploration of Southall and even opportunities to share Jesus with local residents.

Dates of Trip:
August 20 - 27, 2022 (depart US on August 19)

Per Person cost of trip:
$1550 + airfare (includes room, meals, ground transportation, building material and local labor). If you are interested please contact Jeremy Martin:
Jeremy.k.martin@icloud.com or contact the SERGE Short-term Teams Coordinator:
Brad Wallace at bwallace@serge.org, mobile 701.969.5309.
