Learn More about the National Dementia Workforce Study!
The National Dementia Workforce Study, sponsored by the National Institute on Aging, is conducting the first large, annual surveys of the dementia care workforce in the United States. Survey data and other linked data sources will create an unprecedented resource for researchers to answer critical questions about the workforce and its impact on care and outcomes for persons living with dementia.

The NDWS website is now live! You can learn more about this important data resource and sign up for the mailing list at: https://www.ndws.org/.

Policy Alert! New CMS Regulations Could Have Benefits for Direct Care Workers
CMS will require that home-based care providers use 80% of the Medicaid reimbursements they receive toward caregiver compensation. Providers will have up to 6 years to demonstrate compliance and can request exemptions. Read the regulations, effective July 9, here.

In addition, CMS has now released a final rule for nursing homes that includes a first-ever staffing standard of 3.48 hours per resident day (HPRD), including at least 0.55 HPRD of direct registered nurse (RN) care and 2.45 HPRD of nursing assistant care. Providers will have 3 to 5 years to achieve compliance, with some exemptions. Read the regulations, effective June 21, here.
