AWFC Pastor to Serve as UMCH Director of Development and Church Relations
Rev. Angie Long, Sr. Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Greenville, Alabama has accepted a position as Director of Development and Church Relations for the United Methodist Children’s Home (UMCH) effective May 4, 2020.

“We consider it a blessing for the children of Alabama that Angie is transitioning her ministry to the United Methodist Children’s Home. Angie possesses an abundance of gifts and graces that will serve our children well as she tells the UMCH story to churches and donors all over central and south Alabama,” said Dr. K. Blake Horne, President & CEO of UMCH.
Long has served as an elder in the Alabama West-Florida Conference (AWFC) of the United Methodist Church for the past seven years. She looks forward to combining her passion for ministry with her interest in caring for children.

“As part of the AWFC, I have had the privilege of sharing in a small part of the ministry of the United Methodist Children’s Home,” said Long. “I am truly humbled and excited to soon be working full-time to help children in our communities. I look forward to joining the team and being a part of what God is already doing through UMCH,” she added.

Long will work closely alongside Rebecca Morris, UMCH Sr. Vice President of External Affairs, in raising funds to support UMCH’s mission. “Her passion for children, her genuine ability to connect with people and her skill at articulating our mission in relationship to the Gospel touched all the important bases for us. She will do great things for vulnerable children in ministry with UMCH,” Morris said.

Long was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. She has worked in public accounting as a CPA, as well as in private industry. As a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Montgomery, she felt a calling to seminary and ordination in the United Methodist Church. Angie and her husband, Keith, have two children, Brady and Brinkley.
