Presidents Message

Dear Members

I hope you have taken the opportunity to attend our last couple of members meetings. We have had some really great demonstrations that should get any artist excited about either taking a workshop or expanding into clay and really experimenting. I must say that our clay department is growing every day, attracting new students and cementing our relationship with old students who saw the potential “magic” in our studio…..they are all having fun, learning, creating and I can’t thank all of the volunteers enough who helped us make the transition. The energy in that studio is fantastic! But all of these changes would not have been possible without the leadership, hard work, organizational skills and generosity of Cindy Weimer…..Thank you Cindy for inspiring us with your talent and continuing to lead the way!

We have our Annual Member’s Show and Awards Brunch to look forward to in March, and then a Barbara Ortiz pastel workshop in April and Jane Slivka rounding out our Spring workshops in May! Hard to believe that summer will be here in “no time” and we will again be hosting our Summer Eco Art camp. Please take the time to open and read the emails we regularly send so you don’t miss any of the latest updates for all of our activities! Please mark your calendars for our next Members Meeting April 21 st 1 to 3pm here at our studios

Hope to see you at the Members’ Show,

Cheryl

Members Show 2024

66 th Annual Member Show Coming Soon!

Sunday March 10th is the annual AWI Member's Show, and we hope that you're looking forward to joining us there! The Awards ceremony starts about 1:30 PM, and if you've signed up for our Garden Brunch, it will start about Noon. There are no classes the week before the Show, so from Tuesday, March 5th until Friday March 8th, our studio space will be open for people to come and enjoy the beautiful artwork that has been entered. While you're there, choose YOUR favorite piece of art and vote for the People's Choice Award. (One vote per person please!) The Show will remain up until March 15th and we ask that you pick up your artwork no later than 3:30 PM March 15th.

We have many generous members and sponsors who have contributed to the Show Awards again this year, and expect to be giving out close to $4000 in prizes! Thanks again to all of you who help support each other as artists, and who choose to honor the memory of a loved one with these annual awards. Our judge this year is Bryce Hammond of NSB, a curriculum specialist in Volusia County Schools, and a talented contemporary artist. Look for an AWI email later in March with all the news from the big event! See you at the Show.

Community Exhibits

The Artists’ Workshop Community Exhibits program is an opportunity for members to display and sell their artwork. Our local area has several venues where the shows are hung for months at a time.

Please let us know if you would like to show your work at one of our community exhibit locations. For Spring we are featuring the artwork of Sue Stoddart and Judi Poltorak, which are on display in the New Smyrna library. The Adirondacks are the main feature of Sue's beautiful art. Her wonderful artwork really captures the beauty of that area. The main subject of Judi's wonderful watercolors is Florida. Her paintings are colorful and bright. Take a ride over to view this fine art by two of our talented artists. If you would like to show your work in any of our venues, please contact us.
