Peer-to-Peer Webinars for BIPOC Teaching Artists, Arts Educators
This winter, the Arizona Commission on the Arts will present 4 webinars for BIPOC teaching artists interested in exchanging best practices. Teaching artist Sharah Nieto will facilitate four sessions specific to different age groups and disciplines. This is a great opportunity to connect with peers in your area of expertise, ask questions, share ideas and build community.
Through the #GiveAZArts social media campaign, let's remind friends and neighbors who will engage in gift-giving as a part of their holiday traditions this year to think about ways they can support Arizona arts organizations, arts-based businesses, and the artists at the center of all of the work.
Leslie Odom Jr. discusses importance of arts education

First-gen ASU grad shares her story with local youth
A few years after visiting ASU's Tempe campus for an event, Sun Devil Marlene Ortega is graduating this semester with a degree in art studies from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts .
This project designs the first arts‐based schooling strategy for empathy for people with dementia, creates a dementia friendly generation, age‐friendly environments, supports young people to understand dementia. Objective of the project is to develop artistic strategies to strengthen empathic abilities with arts‐based methods & interdisciplinary collaboration between people with & without dementia.

The Western Governors' Foundation is proud to announce its 6th Annual "Celebrate the West" regional art competition challenging high school students to create works inspired by their state.
