AZELLA Stand-Alone Field Test Postponement
AZELLA District Test Coordinators,
Due to COVID and in an effort to continue to provide as much flexibility as possible for statewide assessments, ADE has decided to postpone the AZELLA Stand-Alone Field Test until Fall of 2021. This postponement will allow LEAs to plan and schedule for only the Spring 2021 AZELLA Reassessment. Ensuring that students participate in the Spring 2021 Reassessment is critical so that your LEA has an additional piece of data to use when making determinations to support these students.
We know many of you have started your planning and preparations including communicating with your families about both the Stand-Alone Field Test and the Reassessment Test. We appreciate all your efforts!
Please note:
-
As communicated by ADE on December 18, 2020, the AZELLA Spring Reassessment Test Window has been extended from February 1 through May 21, 2021.
-
To remain on schedule, the Spring Reassessment training modules and materials will not be updated to reflect this change. There will still be references to the Spring 2021 Stand-Alone Field Test dates and deadlines.
- If SAFT paper test materials have been already delivered to your district or charter, you will receive an email from Pearson with detailed directions to return materials to Pearson or securely dispose of these SAFT materials.
- For School Year 2020-2021, all Grades K-12 students who have been presumed to have an EL need based on the parent responses to the Home Language Survey, have been enrolled in EL program services through the temporary entrance procedure, and have not administered the AZELLA Placement Test (including KPT) due to COVID-19 restrictions, will need to be administered the Spring 2021 AZELLA Reassessment Test. These students do not need to be administered the 2020-2021 AZELLA Placement Test. For School Year 2020-2021, all Grades 1-12 students who are listed as EL Group 8 on the EL73 Report and require the administration of the 2020-2021 AZELLA Placement Test, should be administered the Spring 2021 AZELLA Reassessment Test. These students do not need to be administered the 2020-2021 AZELLA Placement Test.
