The morning started out a little overcast and chilly with a steady wind coming out of the north
. After a first round rain out, todays format was a 2 person best ball gross event. The 2019 Mixed Team Champions, Abbey Driscoll and Ridge Conner were able to win thier first Championship title. Driscoll had a string of 3 birdies on holes 2-4 with a total of 6 for the day. Conner added one more to the final round total of 5 under 67 to take the championship by 4 shots over last years champions Emily Rapp and Jeremy Moore. Finishing third in the First Flight of the Championship Division was the father/daughter team of Lextyn and Ryan Petz.
Winning the Second Flight of the Championship Division was the team of Sandi and Skip Shineman posting a 76 to secure winning the Second Flight by 2 shots over Victoria Tsurutis and Russel Hightower. Rounding out the top three in this flight was Elizabeth Hendrix and John Ormond.
Lea Anne Brown and Marc Hoover
Posting a 3 under round 69, the team of Lea Anne Brown and Marc Hoover secured the State Division Championship by one shot over the duo of Donna Cortina and David Politi. Brown/Hoover had 3 birdies and 15 pars for the day. Finishing 3rd with an even par 72 was the team of Suzy Ellison and Phillip Ashley edging out Leigh Coulter and Ken Taylor by one shot who shot 73.
Taking home the championship in the Second Flight of the Senior Division was a tie by Leah and Roy Bohnen with Sue and Bruce Kline both posting 75 for the day. Just one shot back the teams of Denise Sottilare and Peter Waeschle with Dataw Island Club Champion Sue Zankowski and her husband John Zankowski tied for 3rd.
Doris and Mike Fisher won the Third Flight of the Senior Division by shooting a 77 to take the championship by 2 shots over the teams of Jackie/Bruce Beck and Chea/Lawrence Luff. Rounding out the top four was the team of Lisa and Rick Desando in 4th.
Another successful WSCGA/SCGA Mixed Team Championship in the books at the beautiful Dataw Island Club. 112 players coming together to play a game friendly to all amongst nature. Thank you Dataw Island for being a big part in making this year possible. Until next year.....just remember.....
