Havre De Grace Home Dedications

On Tuesday, April 24th, 2018, two families, Mekurias and Gutemas, were welcomed into their new homes built by Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna and many volunteer hands on a light-winded, Spring day.  Centered between two neighboring homes everyone gathered around to share in a delightful meal and celebration that will always be a memorable day for each of these families.  Each family has to put in hours of personal labor called sweat equity to help build their own home.
The homes are not gifts, but affordable homes with mortgages that the families pay for each month. It is through the donations of individuals and businesses to the ReStore that we are able to help families achieve homeownership.  When you shop or donate to the Aberdeen ReStore you are helping us to create more homeownership opportunities.

Welcome home, Havre de Grace Families!  May the years to come in your households be fruitful and filled with joy!  WMAR-TV 2 News reported on the dedications (Link Highlighted Below).
and the story was also published in the Cecil Whig and in the Aegis (Link Highlighted Below).

Volunteer Appreciation Event
On April 27, 2018, Habitat For Humanity Susquehanna held a Volunteer Appreciation event at the beautiful La Banque de Fleuve in Havre de Grace.  Awards were given to those who volunteered more than 500 hours; 250-499 hours; and, 100-249 hours.

Interested in Volunteering?
Spring is here! What a great way to celebrate the Spring season by volunteering.  The Aberdeen ReStore is looking for service-minded individuals to assist in our customer service and receiving departments.  Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks ranging from helping customers, assisting donors in receiving, and organizing the sales floor.  Volunteers are needed Tuesdays, 9 AM to 4 PM, Wednesday-Friday 10 AM to 6 PM, and Saturdays 9 AM to 4 PM.  Individuals and groups are welcome.  Volunteers must be 16 years old to volunteer.  14-15 years of age can volunteer with a parent or guardian.  This opportunity is great for retirees looking for an extra hobby, students who need service hours and for individuals who want to give back to their community.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact John at jlanigan@habitatsusq.org or call 443-567-7698 Ext 14.
May  Volunteer of the Month
Our volunteer of the month for May is Roger! Roger is a core volunteer at the ReStore and construction sites. This year he has achieved over 1000 hours of service. He was awarded the Presidential Gold Volunteer Service Award (highest honor for volunteers) for his volunteer efforts. When he is not building forever homes for habitat families, he is at the ReStore assisting donors and repairing furniture.  Roger is a natural leader. When staff is tied up with other tasks, Roger is not afraid to take charge.  Rain or shine, Roger is always there to lend a helping hand. Even though Roger is a volunteer, he is also a part of the Habitat family.

Monthly Color Tag Sales
We're running color tag sales every month, where items will be priced according to condition, uniqueness, quantity and from where it was received. Our items range from high-end corporate donors to residential, and everything is priced from $-$$$ and in-between.

At the beginning of each month items will be marked down with the colored tags, depending on how long they've been at the ReStore. Pictured here (at right) are the tags you'll see in the store, and the markdowns they represent. Happy shopping!

Three-Day Holds
The vast majority of our furniture is extremely heavy, and due to insurance requirements, we unfortunately cannot load your vehicle. We'll be happy to bring your item(s) to the loading dock for you to load yourself.  Please note that we have a strict three-day hold. If you do not pick your item(s) up by the third day, they will be returned to the floor to be resold, and ONLY store credit minus the 20% restocking fee will be issued for the amount of the item.  Sorry, NO REFUNDS.
