Abilene Finalist in Best Small Town Contest
Abilene has been nominated for TravelAwaits' "Best Of Travel Awards" in the Best U.S. Small Town category.

TravelAwaits is dedicated to travelers ages fifty and up who are ready to cross a few items off their bucket list.

"We enjoy working with the writers at TravelAwaits to share Abilene with new audiences," said Julie Roller Weeks, Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau director. "It's an honor to be nominated, but it will be even better to win."

This latest nomination is another feather in Abilene's cap joining the ranks of other mentions including runner-up in the nationwide "Best Historic Small Town" contest by USA Today; #8 "Best Historic Small Town" by USA Today; #1 True Western Town of the Year by TrueWest Magazine; and "Best Small Town to Visit" by Smithsonian Magazine.

Visiting Made Easier
Visitors to Abilene now have a new way to find tourism attractions, retail businesses, and restaurants. Thanks to SPARKS (CARES act) funding from Dickinson County, the Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau now has an outdoor digital kiosk. The kiosk is located on the east end of the Abilene Civic Center (Union Pacific Train Depot) at 201 NW 2nd Street.

“The kiosk is like a giant smartphone,” said Julie Roller Weeks, Abilene Convention & Visitors Burau director. “Everything that is on our website is also on the kiosk.”
