Abilene Makes "Top 10 Recommendations for Summer Travel"

From Travel With Sara:

The summer travel season is upon us and I'm sharing my top 10 list of where I think you should go. I often hear people say that they can't afford to travel or they don't want to go somewhere because of the crowds. My top 10 destinations offer affordability and an opportunity to go off the beaten path.  When you venture off of the beaten path you will not only experience fewer people, but you will have the opportunity to experience things that many others will have overlooked.

New Mural Downtown

Another mural was recently completed in downtown Abilene by local artist William Counter. The mural was coordinated by the Arts Council of Dickinson County with support from the Community Foundation of Dickinson County.

5 Star Reviews - Seelye Mansion

Our tour of the mansion was simply amazing. We were led by the owner/resident, Terry. He invited us to join the tour just as it was starting. The mansion is presented the way it existed many years ago, but Terry encourages you to touch, sit, feel everything. ( Including the Steinway in the parlour). Terry is doing a great thing for the future of our children and their children in preserving this treasure.

Silver Wings, Flying Dreams: The Complete Story of Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP)
The 2018 Evenings at Ease series continues with a documentary about Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). The film will be shown at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 in the Visitors Center Auditorium at the Eisenhower Presidential Library.

Silver Wings, Flying Dreams is the amazing true story of pioneering women, who for a brief moment in the darkest days of WWII, shattered the glass ceiling to become the first women to pilot American military aircraft. Surviving pilots relive personal experiences and challenges they endured.

The film also brings to light their long struggle for recognition and veterans rights. It took 66 years for them to be recognized for their service to our country and receive the Congressional Gold Medal.
