Abortion Industry Files Suit to Stop Our Law Protecting Minors
Greetings!

The abortion industry has done it again. Just last week, they filed a lawsuit against another common-sense pro-life law we passed in Baton Rouge.

This time, they want to make sure that minor girls can have abortion "without barriers" and even without parental involvement. They do this by directing girls to abortion-friendly judges in the parish where the abortion facility is located and getting them a "judicial bypass" to have an abortion. This allows the girl to have an abortion without a parent ever knowing. Talk about a disgrace!

We changed the law this past legislative session, limiting the jurisdiction for judicial bypass (which is sadly protected by the Supreme Court) to judges in a local parish. And this change has the abortion industry upset.

You can read more about this issue on our website, but rest assured that Attorney General Jeff Landry and his legal team are fully committed to defending this important law. And so are we. It shouldn't be easier for a minor to have an abortion without parental consent than to take aspirin in high school!

House Approves Biden's Spending Bill Without Hyde Amendment; Contact Senators Now!
Last Thursday, House Democrats, including Louisiana Congressman Troy Carter, approved the Department of State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations Act, or H.R. 4373, by a vote of 217 to 212. The bill as passed did not include the Hyde Amendment, which been adopted in the federal budget every year since 1976 and prevents Medicaid dollars from funding abortion, except in cases of rape, incest, and situations where the life of the mother is in danger. If the budget is adopted by the Senate as is, abortions would be funded for Medicaid-eligible women by the tax dollars of Americans.

Northwest Louisiana Prayer Breakfast
Scheduled for Aug. 31 in Bossier City
The Northwest Louisiana Prayer Breakfast is back after being cancelled in 2020 because of COVID-19. The breakfast is scheduled for Aug. 31 at the Bossier City Civic Center. Tickets are $25 each, and several sponsorship levels are available. Proceeds from the event help fund pro-life efforts in the Shreveport-Bossier area, including the Northwest Louisiana Life March.
Billboards are up near abortion facilities in New Orleans and Baton Rouge and one will be up soon near the abortion facility in Shreveport to inform women that they can reverse their abortions. These billboards, and other ads we hope to put out, will supplement the information that is required in the facilities thanks to the passage of the Abortion Pill Reversal Disclosure Act. More than 19,000 lives have been saved since 40 Days for Life began organized peaceful prayer vigils in 2007. This year's fall campaign is Sept. 22 through Oct. 31, and vigil signups are now open in Louisiana! 40 Days for Life Louisiana vigils will be held outside abortion facilities in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport. You can sign up with a church/group or by yourself and choose a day, part of a day or even an hour.

The seventh Chers Bébés: Acadiana's Soirée for Life, is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 21, at Cathedral Hall in Lafayette. Last year's event had to be cancelled due to COVID restrictions, but this year the event will be back better than ever! Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and AGs from 23 other states have filed an amicus brief supporting Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch and her defense of a state law that bans abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in the case this fall.
