"Can verbs be made up? I'll tell you one. I heaven you, so my wings will open wide to love you boundlessly." - Frida Kahlo.

Welcome to the season of SO many celebrations! The calendar has turned to October and, at World's Window, that usually means we start our annual coat and sweater drive for Rose Brooks Center. At the same time we decorate for Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and welcome the cooler weather of shorter days and early nightfall. With our Brookside neighbors it often means we're hosting a "Sip and Shop" wine tasting event and then our Halloween "Trick of Treat Street".

But 2020 continues to be topsy turvy in so many ways. The annual Brookside events are being combined into "Harvest Days" (see info below). As in other years Day of the Dead folk art fills our front window and many shelves, but Della added "Frida" into our front window reaching out in a GIANT hug, because can't we all use some hugs right now?!?

Our coat and sweater drive for Rose Brooks Center changes to fit these COVID times with our accepting only NEW coats and sweaters this year. We invite you to help us send "Harvest Hugs" by the bushels with your coat and sweater donations.

"Harvest Hugs"
Coat and Sweater Drive for Rose Brooks Center
October 22 - 24, 2020
Storyteller extraordinaire Joyce Slater stopped by on Monday to share another story. Get ready. It's delightful! It's just down a bit farther in this newsletter. Joyce has been a long-time supporter of our coat and sweater drive so I asked her to chat with me about our "Harvest Hugs" event coming up.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A perfect time to share warmth and hugs with donations of NEW coats and sweaters for the women and children in shelter at Rose Brooks Center, our local domestic violence shelter.

With COVID safety concerns, we can only accept brand new coats and sweaters with their tags still attached. Place your coat and sweater donations in a plastic bag and bring them to World's Window on Thursday through Saturday, October 22 - 24 during Brookside's Harvest Days.

As our thank you (with many virtual hugs!) we'll hand you a Harvest coupon good for 20% off all* your purchases on any one of the 3 days of this special Harvest Hugs Coat and Sweater Drive.

   Harvest Hugs checklist:
    1. Brand-new coats and sweaters - tags on!
    2. If packaged in plastic, leave them in the bag.
    3. Put all donations in a plastic bag
    4. Bring to World's Window, October 22 - 24, 2020

*discounts only on full-priced, non-consignment items. other details in store.
"The Mitten" as told by Joyce Slater

As I promised, Joyce has a charming story to share that is a celebration of love, warmth, sharing, and generosity. It's the perfect story for the first week of our "12 Weeks of Celebrations." Settle in, maybe with some hot tea, gather around, and give a listen.
