Siblings in Christ,
It was amazing to visit the National Parks and be exposed to the awesomeness of God’s creation. Today is my first day back in the office and I can see that the council was really busy while I was away. You all are so amazing!
If you have been to in person worship over the past few weeks you would have seen the big blue tarp on the top of the steeple roof. On one of the high wind days during late spring some tiles flew off the top of the roof and we began getting water in the sanctuary, near the altar. Over the past month the council worked with insurance and got quotes to fix the roof and I am happy to share that the roof is getting fixed and it will be covered by insurance! Every time I think we hear at Acacia are going to have a hard time with something, we always come together to figure it out and it always seems to not end up being as bad as we first thought. We are fighters and we persevere.
We are going to do the same with the Delta variant of Covid. CDC updated guidelines this week to say that we should be wearing masks again indoors, especially if you are not vaccinated. As of writing this, Acacia Park is keeping our plans of following those guidelines, like we have been since we reopened for in-person worship. Please be caring for your siblings in Christ and wear a mask if you are not vaccinated, and be open and loving to those who may be vaccinated and decide to wear a mask indoors for extra precaution. I decided that I will be wearing a mask during worship, except for preaching the sermon. The council will keep you updated with any changes.
Due to the Delta Variant we will also begin livestreaming the worship service through FB and posted on Youtube again. We don’t want anyone excluded from attending worship. “Like” Acacia Park Lutheran on Facebook to make sure you don’t miss the livestream. If you do not have a Facebook account, you can still access the worship with the link. The link will be emailed out Sunday morning before worship.
We are still in transition, and we may be in this limbo world of semi open and being safe for some time. But, we also know that we here at Acacia Park always makes a way when it seems there is no way. We put our trust in the Lord and pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit and then we walk with Jesus to fulfill the ministry of the church in Norridge.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Meagan Sherman-Sporrong
