from the Head of School
Dear AL Families,
It was great to have our 9th graders back in the building this week. We continue planning for other grade levels to return to the buildings and in-person instruction. Please note that we have invited a few students, identified by our instructional team, to attend school 4 days a week. We understand that every parent wants their own child back full-time but ask that you respect those students' privacy and the professional judgment of our team at this time.
Oak and Cherry parents: see below to read the principals' articles pertaining to campus reopening. If you have not yet received your child's cohort and schedule information, please email your child's teacher.
The Armour administration will provide an online meeting on Tuesday, 1/26, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm for 6th grade families entering Armour campus for the first time this year. More details will be emailed to those families.
As we enter the season of inclement weather, we want to remind you that snow days will be replaced with virtual learning snow days. Those days will be announced on our website, social media, and news stations.
Last, we were not able to send out grade cards as planned today due to a series of glitches. We hope to have the system back up and running soon and send them next week. Remember that you can check your child's grade online here. If you need help with login information, please contact itdepartment@academielafayette.org.
We look forward to seeing our K-1 students next week!

Upper Room After School Care
The Upper Room is offering after school care at the Oak and Cherry Campuses beginning on January 25th for those who have completed the Upper Room registration form on the AL website. If you want after school care and have not completed the form, please go to the website.
Please know that if, after February 5th, we do not have enough students signed up to make it feasible for the Upper Room to continue the program (Oak and Cherry), the program will reluctantly be ended for the present time. This does not mean that we cannot bring it back into the school, but enrollment numbers must be at a minimum of at least 5 at each location for them to feasibly continue offering the program at our school.

Library Bragging #2
I am Trisha Sinkhorn, your Media Specialist at the Cherry location. I just love the library and not just my school library.
Want More from your Library?
Mid-Continent Public Library has some excellent e-content (electronic resources) for your French speaker. I am impressed by the French and Spanish resources like Tumblebooks (both Mid-Continent & KClibrary).
Mid-Continent has Flipster and RBG Digital magazines in French plus other languages.
KC Library has Overdrive or Libby to use e-books and e-audiobooks and I love Hoopla.
Mid-Continent has both Overdrive and Libby.
Freegal is a free way to download e-music. Both Mid-Continent and KC Library have access to this. You can download 5 free songs a week. This is where I was introduced to WIll Stroet, a French Canadian children singer.
Mid-Continent has Access Video and I located over 400 French speaking films. I am constantly looking for French items to enhance our student and teacher experiences. Feel free to reach out to me if you need assistance with anything library related. tsinkhorn@academielafayette.org

ALIHS Incoming 9th & 1oth grade
Dear current 9th and 8th grade parents,
The timeline of enrollment for Académie Lafayette International High School has changed to ensure we have the appropriate staffing and course offering available for our students. As of 2020-2021 the intent to return form is required to be submitted between December 2020 and February 22nd 2021. This will allow your student to participate in choosing their class schedule for the 2021-2022 school year in the spring. It will still be required to complete full re-enrollment during the summer. This requirement and other changes we may implement will continue as we grow our ALIHS student population. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

If your student is interested in having a google meet with current 9th graders or coming in person to shadow for a period of the day, please email lseely@academielafayette.org.

All current AL siblings will not be guaranteed a seat. The child must be age 4 prior to September 1st, 2021.
