From the head of school

Conseil d'Ecole, Conferences

Dear AL community,

I am thrilled to inform you that Académie Lafayette has received a $1.34 million federal grant to start our International Baccalaureate high school! This is a testimony to the quality and the credibility of our program. We plan to offer a strong STEM program at our Armour campus (both middle and high school) and have visited Blue Valley North High School and the Johnson County public library to see how their Makerspaces are set up. As the high school planning continues for August 2020, we are gathering feedback from a committee made of educators, parents, and students.

Thank you to the eighth grade parents who attended the high school meeting this week. We will be holding another high school meeting for 5th-7th grade parents on Tuesday, November 19, at 6 pm at the Armour campus.

Thanks for your support and have a wonderful weekend.

From the Oak Principal

From the Oak Principal

Dear families,

This past week was a busy one. Between parent/teacher conferences and then a full day of a charter school conference with many of our teachers able to attend a variety of workshops. If they didn't attend the conference some of our teachers observed in other schools.

Last Saturday, some of our families along with a partnership with the Y, cleaned up the patio in order to have more space for our students. We are so grateful for the help! Check out the photos!

I apologize for once again begging for stuff for our PBIS store. Please go through drawers or old toys that are in good shape, or go to garage sales and buy inexpensive items so that we can sell them back to your children! We are trying to reinforce positive behavior.

Thank you families for all you do!!

Mme Houfaidi
Oak Principal

Attention to all Armour students who enjoy dancing: Académie Lafayette is starting an official dance team! Clinics will be hosted from Monday, Nov. 4th to Thursday, Nov. 7th with tryouts on Friday, Nov. 8th, all at Armour from 4 to 5:30 pm.

At clinics, we will warm up together, practice basic technique down the room, and then you will learn two combinations that you will later perform for tryouts. It is required that you come to at least two afterschool clinics to tryout on Friday.

You do not need to have any previous dance experience to audition, so please come and bring your friends! Just make sure to have comfortable clothes to wear, either tennis shoes or dance shoes, and a positive attitude.

Please email Janessa Riehle at  [email protected] with any questions about AL Dance Team.
