Important AL Updates

Dear AL Community,

As we now have four grade levels back two days a week, it is more important than ever for every single family to follow our reopening plan protocols so that our staff and students can continue to come safely to school. If you have not yet read this week's COVID-19 protocol mailing, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

I would also like to let you know that the school improvement day scheduled for Monday, November 16th has been moved to Wednesday, November 18th. This will allow for less teaching disruption to our Monday-Tuesday hybrid students.

Thank you for your support and understanding. Have a great weekend!

Elimane Mbengue
Head of School

From the Oak and Cherry Principals

2nd Week Down...

We've completed our 2nd week of in-person learning. It has been great to see the students and to hear French in the classrooms and hallways again.

We want to compliment our students on wearing their masks and following safety guidelines.  They're doing great! Please make sure that your kids have an extra mask in their backpack.

For parents of our youngest students- please continue to practice the following life skills with your students:  putting on their masks, washing hands, zipping or buttoning pants, coats, etc, and getting into and out of their booster seats in the car.

Cherry Info
Due to construction, Cherry Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic November 19 through Thanksgiving. For drop off and pickup on Kenwood, parents should plan to enter from the west via Gillham.  Please be considerate of merging lanes- especially at dismissal, as we all cope with construction traffic.

Jean Claude Diatta, Oak Principal

Thankful Luncheon for Teachers

This year especially, we are extremely thankful for our wonderful teachers and staff! Traditionally, the PTO organizes a bountiful potluck buffet in November for teachers and staff to enjoy as a way to show our appreciation. To celebrate more safely, the PTO will provide box lunches from Thelma's Kitchen this year.

Additionally, the PTO organizes a gift card drive to provide each staff member a $5 gift card with funds generously donated by AL families. We would love to increase the amount to $10 this year. Please consider donating as you are able, taking into consideration the cost you might have otherwise spent to provide an item for the buffet. Payments can be sent digitally to Kelly Garr, chair of the PTO Teacher Appreciation Committee, at @Brett-Garr on Venmo or [email protected] on PayPal. Please send contributions by Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Thank you for your support! Questions can be fielded through the contact form on the PTO website

ALIHS Incoming 9th & 1oth gradealihszoom

Dear current 9th and 8th grade parents

The timeline of enrollment for Académie Lafayette International High School has changed to ensure we have the appropriate staffing and course offering available for our students. As of 2020-2021 the intent to return form is required to be submitted between December 2020 and February 22nd 2021. This will allow your student to participate in choosing their class schedule for the 2021-2022 school year in the spring. It will still be required to complete full re-enrollment during the summer. This requirement and other changes we may implement will continue as we grow our ALIHS student population.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
  • Make sure your 8th grader is in attendance for Musketeer Time Nov. 19th & 20th to hear from our current ALIHS students.
