from the head of school

Merci! AL Community

Dear AL Community,

Thank you to all of the teachers, students and families as we've tested our Google Classrooms this week. We know we've faced challenges but also had much success and let's remember all of the things for which we are thankful, which for me includes our staff's dedication and commitment to new teaching strategies. I would like to thank Meghan Downey and the team of parents helping her put together over 100 grocery bags with really nice food items for families. Thank you to all the generous donors to the Go Fund Me campaign initiated by the PTO.

As COVID-19 spreads, members of our school community may be diagnosed with the virus. While the campuses are closed, we will not share information about any occurrence within our school community as we balance an individual's desire for privacy with our community's need to take appropriate containment measures.

The next few weeks will have some bumps, but know our goals during this time are to provide quality learning opportunities, create opportunities for students to stay connected with their teachers and each other, and to have fun and lower the general anxiety of the situation when we can. As we go along, if you have ideas to help improve this experience, or if there is anything that you think we can do for your child or family, please do not hesitate to reach out. My virtual office is always open.

Young Rembrandts' Online Spring classYB

Académie Lafayette Families:
Thank you for supporting Young Rembrandts.
During this unfortunate health crisis, we have been working hard to determine strategies that will keep kids engaged and allow them to continue to grow their creative minds each and every day.

To this end, we are now in position to begin offering online (video) classes to families in place of our in-person classroom instruction.

1. Families  that are already registered will automatically receive these online lessons. You don't need to do anything.
2. Families that are NOT registered can ENROLL NOW and you will receive these online lessons once registered.

Our incredible CEO & Founder, Bette Fetter, has made this all possible and is actually doing the videos herself. I reviewed the first one, and it is fantastic!

At Académie Lafayette (both campuses)  we are offering our families six online spring classes. The benefits are as follows:
  1. We are able to keep kids engaged in creative growth through drawing while staying safe in the comfort of their own homes
  2. Families (moms, dads, other relatives and siblings) can share this experience by also participating in the lesson if they are able. Drawing is fortunately an activity that ALL ages can participate in and enjoy.
  3. Families can schedule the online lessons at their convenience with the ability to replay it up to five times
We are planning to email the lessons out on Mondays with Lesson One scheduled for March 30th.

If you are already enrolled in our spring classes, you do not need to do anything.
If you haven't enrolled, registered now in our online Virtual spring class - 6-lesson package on our website.
We truly hope your family is able to enjoy these lessons from the comfort and safety of your own home.

Sincerely, Sarah Hirtzel
