School Updates

Dear AL Community,

Spring is finally in the air! While we are once again not able to send our students on their class trips, the children are still enjoying spending time outside and with each other. I cannot tell you how great it is to hear the children laughing and playing outside, and French being spoken in the hallways and classrooms. Our buildings are alive again!

The MAP test has started at all three campuses and is going smoothly. We appreciate the parents of our online students working with us to bring their children to school to take the test.

There were a few hiccups with Summer School registration issues in our new student information system but we believe that everything is now fixed and running as it should. If you still need login information or help with your account, please email itdepartment@academielafayette.org.

For Summer School, all campuses will open 15 minutes before classes start so that we can continue to follow our social distancing guidelines. Class times will be as follows:
  • 8:15 - 3:45 pm for Oak and Cherry (building opens at 8 am)
  • 8:00 - 3:30 pm for Armour (building opens at 7:45 am)
The online parent-elect board member election will begin next Friday May 7th. Click here for more information about the candidates.

Have a fantastic weekend.

Teacher Appreciation Weekappreciation

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 3-7, and the PTO is sharing some fun ideas to show our wonderful teachers just how much we appreciate all that they do. Times remain challenging, so these suggestions emphasize heartfelt gratitude instead of purchasing gifts or cards.

These are just suggestions; please show your appreciation in the ways that work best for your family. Feel free to explore ideas online (Pinterest is full of inspiration). Also, this is a great time to remember the office personnel and campus principals. Thank you for making our teachers feel special and appreciated!

Special PTO MeetingptoMeeting

Please join the PTO for a special meeting on May 4 at 6 pm for the Parent-Elect Board members. Candidates will make their introductory speeches and be available for questions. A link to the virtual meeting will be shared soon.

Lifetouch is returning to Armour, Oak, and Cherry on May 4 to do class pictures. This group photo will be in masks. Students should also be in uniform that day. Class picture ordering information will be shared soon.

Homeroom teachers will communicate their scheduled time with parents, so online students can also participate if they wish.

Incoming and returning AL families (pre-k to 9th grade): Summer School registration/enrollment is now open in the Tyler portal.

If any family has not yet signed-in to Tyler, they will not be able to complete enrollment.
If you have not yet signed in and setup your account please contact itdepartment@academielafayette.org for a temporary password.

Greetings Académie Lafayette Parents,

Upper Room is happy to announce that we will be providing after-school care for Académie Lafayette's two summer school sessions: June 16 - July 2, 2021 and July 7 - July 23, 2021.

The program will run from the end of the school day until 6:00pm Monday through Friday.  Activities will include music, art, PE and games.  Due to this being a separate program from our school year after-school program, all families will need to complete an application, pay a $25 registration fee through PayPal, and complete and submit the automatic payment form even if you have completed an application earlier in the school year.  Fees will be a flat rate of $60 per week for the first child and $45 per week for each sibling.  Click here for additional information about the Summer After-school Program. Click here to register.

Dear parents,

Please take advantage of the uniform closet! If you have anything clean and not ripped or stained to donate please send it with your child to be dropped in the school office. Donations can also be dropped in the clear plastic bin on my front porch: 4235 Kenwood Avenue.

I am a parent volunteer and organize the Oak closet (which is quite full right now) so if you have any particular needs (Cherry or Oak) I'm happy to look for you, sizes K-5. Contact sallyk1975@gmail.com, 816-699-3109.

For 6th grade and up uniform needs, please contact Diane Rizzo who handles Armour.
816-729-7087, diane.rizzo@yahoo.com.

Please be as specific as possible as to what you're wanting (size, color) and we will try to pack you a bag. If your child is at Oak on Thursdays let me know and I will deliver it to your child directly.

Here to help!

Sally King and Diane Rizzo

You must respond Y to the text message in order to opt-in and receive further communication. If you did not receive a text, please make sure your contact information is correct in your Tyler parent portal. If it is, please email itdepartment@academielafayette.org

Children's Mercy Forum in EspañolMercy

Missouri Charter Public School Association will have a forum for parents in Español with Children's Mercy on Tuesday, April 27, 5-6pm. Nationwide, information and open conversations with physicians about the COVID-19 vaccine in Spanish have been limited, so providing this opportunity for our families and our Spanish speaking communities means a lot.
See flyer below for details.

We're encouraging parents to register here:
(and by doing so they enter a chance to win a prize!)

This event will be streamed live on our MCPSA facebook account as well: https://www.facebook.com/mocharterschools
Any questions: Christy Moreno cmoreno@mocharterschools.org
