| Celebrating the Class of 2026 & Preparing for the Year Ahead | |
Dear AL Community,
On Tuesday, we proudly celebrated the graduation of the Académie Lafayette International High School Class of 2026. This remarkable group of 35 seniors is heading in many different directions — from universities across the United States to directly entering the workforce with industry certifications earned through Manual Career and Technical Center.
Together, the Class of 2026 secured an incredible $3,712,324 in scholarships. We are proud of their accomplishments and excited to see what comes next for each of them. A special thank you to Dr. Paul, the graduation planning committee, the entire high school team, and every teacher and staff member who has supported these students throughout their journey at AL — from kindergarten through graduation. Their success is truly the result of years of dedication, guidance, and care from our entire school community. Families who would like to relive the celebration can click here to watch the graduation ceremony.
As we celebrate this milestone, we are also actively preparing for the 2026–2027 school year. There are two important ways our community can help:
Host Families Needed
Our kindergarten intern program is a vital part of the AL experience and one of the many things that makes our immersion model so special. At this time, we have secured five host families at Oak (with one still needed) and two at Cherry (with four still needed). Without enough host families, we will not be able to place one intern in every kindergarten classroom next year. We are incredibly grateful to the many families who have opened their homes to interns over the years and helped make this program such a success for our students and visiting educators alike. If your family is interested in hosting, please contact your building manager.
Panorama Survey Reminder
Every family recently received a link to the Panorama Survey. The feedback collected through this survey directly helps us improve our schools, programs, and student experience. Current participation rates are:
- ALIHS: 15%
- Armour Middle School: 25.7%
- Cherry: 28.3%
- Oak: 29.1%
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by the end of the day on May 25. Your voice matters and helps guide future decisions across our district.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Have a wonderful weekend.

| | ALIHS Girls' Volleyball Tryouts | | |
This will be Coach Love's third season coaching at ALIHS, though she has coached volleyball for about 15 years at every level—from elementary through high school—and even college!
ALIHS Volleyball tryouts for the 2026 season will be held May 26–28 from 4:15–6:00 pm at the Cherry gym. Players should come dressed in athletic clothing and shoes, ready to learn, work hard, and give their best effort.
Questions? Contact Head Volleyball Coach Johnetta Love, j_love@academielafayette.org.
| | 8th Grade Field Day & Picnic Sign Up | | The last day of school will include a short field day and picnic for 8th graders from 9am to 12:30 pm. Click here sign up to provide items for that day, including the need for several parents to come along and supervise. We're requesting that families provide sack lunches to be eaten at the park and the school will provide sack lunches for those who get school meals. Thank you for all you do! We hope this will be a nice final day of fun for the kids!! | | ScrapsKC is a nonprofit that provides affordable, creative supplies for teachers, and they’ve asked the Oak campus to host a supply drive to help support local classrooms next fall. This is a great opportunity to give new life to those half-used notebooks and stray colored pencils instead of letting them end up in the landfill or at the bottom of a junk drawer. Requested donations include: | | |
Glue sticks
Markers
Crayons
Colored pencils
Calculators
| | |
Highlighters
Pens and pencils
Dry erase markers
Folders
Binders
| | |
Index cards
Scissors
Rulers
Whiteboards
| | On Wednesday, May 27, parent volunteers will visit all the classrooms and collect any donations. If you’d prefer your student bring home all of their extra supplies, please email Laura at lrennicke@gmail.com with your child’s name and classroom. | | Community Parties: Tickets Still Available | | |
There are still tickets left for our tried and true Shrimp Boil as well as our newly added Touchdowns and Tailgates Evening in Paris Community Parties! Whether you are coming for the amazing food, fun atmosphere, or a chance to connect with fellow families and supporters, we would love to have you join us for two unforgettable evenings. Grab your tickets before they are gone!
