School Updates

Dear AL Families,

We want to finish the year strong so please make sure to bring students to school every day up to the last day of school. It is critical for both in-person and online students to utilize this time to keep on learning new things!

This is the last weekend to enroll for summer school. We have extended the deadline to May 9th. Please log into Tyler to complete the Summer Application Forms to register for summer school. If this step is not completed you are not registered. Contact [email protected] for any technical Tyler questions. The two summer school sessions will include regular school classes such as math and French as well as fun activities and field trips. We cannot wait to see everyone there!

The board member election has officially begun and will end on May 12th. Each family received an email titled "Vote now: Academie Lafayette - 2021 online parent-elect board member election" today. If you did not receive this email please check your spam or junk mail. If you still do not find it, please contact [email protected]. We will not offer paper ballots this year due to COVID19. Click here to find out more information about the candidates. Results will be announced next Friday so get your votes in. We hope that every family takes the time to learn more about each candidate and vote to make their voice heard.

Have a great weekend.

A shout out from Cherry!

I know it is Teacher Appreciation Week, but I also want to shout out our great parents.  We appreciate the notes and kind words and gifts that you have given to make our teachers feel special.

I'd also like to recognize a few parents who volunteered to pick up coffee and smoothies for our teachers on Thursday: Kelly Chesley, Shilo Foster, Nicole Kube, and Beth McCarthy.

And finally-  thank you to the Bollier and Sciara families for donating gifts for the Cherry daily prize drawings. Let's be sure to support these and other A.L. businesses!

In little and big ways, our parent community has shown support of our teachers all year during this crazy time.

Thank you!
Madame Royce

Greetings Académie Lafayette Parents,

Upper Room is happy to announce that we will be providing after-school care for Académie Lafayette's two summer school sessions: June 16 - July 2, 2021 and July 7 - July 23, 2021.

The program will run from the end of the school day until 6:00pm Monday through Friday.  Activities will include music, art, PE and games.  Due to this being a separate program from our school year after-school program, all families will need to complete an application, pay a $25 registration fee through PayPal, and complete and submit the automatic payment form even if you have completed an application earlier in the school year.  Fees will be a flat rate of $60 per week for the first child and $45 per week for each sibling.  Click here for additional information about the Summer After-school Program. Click here to register.

Dear parents,

Please take advantage of the uniform closet! If you have anything clean and not ripped or stained to donate please send it with your child to be dropped in the school office. Donations can also be dropped in the clear plastic bin on my front porch: 4235 Kenwood Avenue.

I am a parent volunteer and organize the Oak closet (which is quite full right now) so if you have any particular needs (Cherry or Oak) I'm happy to look for you, sizes K-5. Contact [email protected], 816-699-3109.

For 6th grade and up uniform needs, please contact Diane Rizzo who handles Armour.
816-729-7087, [email protected].

Please be as specific as possible as to what you're wanting (size, color) and we will try to pack you a bag. If your child is at Oak on Thursdays let me know and I will deliver it to your child directly.

Here to help!

Warmly,
Sally King and Diane Rizzo
