AL Fall Return Planning 20-21

Dear AL Community,

I hope you are enjoying the summer with the children despite this unfortunate pandemic situation. Académie Lafayette has established a task force to plan for a safe return into the school buildings in August 2020. The task force is working on planning for an appropriate academic program, necessary sanitary measures, building safety, technology needs, student support, transportation, food services among other matters. We will also examine the possibility of an after school program.

We understand that some families may have particular concerns about returning into the building. That is why we have sent a survey to request your input about either on-site or online learning. It has been sent to the first parent/guardian contact listed on the enrollment form. The questionnaire is due by 4 pm on June 24th. Please take the time to answer as it will allow us to have a better understanding of the trends and see which model - online, on-site or hybrid, we need to plan for.

We cannot predict how the pandemic situation will evolve, however, we will do our best to provide a quality education to our students while mitigating the potential risks posed by the COVID19. The safety of our students and staff is our absolute priority.

Thank you very much for your strong support for our school.

Happy Father's day!

Elimane Mbengue

Dear Families,

The pandemic continues to have a devastating effect on the financial situations of many of our AL families.  The  GoFundMe set up by the PTO is still accepting donations to help them stay on their feet.  Thank you so much to those who have made donations already.  These funds have been used to provide assistance with utilities, rent, food, diapers and other basic necessities.   Our community's commitment to taking care of each other is awe inspiring.

Food ServiceFood

  • Changes have been made to the food pick up service at Armour Campus. We will continue to offer free meals, grocery sacks, and other household goods to families, however some changes will be made to accommodate everyone's evolving needs. We have received increased requests for delivery services, while much fewer families utilize our food pick-up services at Armour than during the Spring.
  • As a result, the hours of pick-up will be changed to 1pm-2pm, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting Monday, June 22nd. This service will remain at the Armour campus, 201 E. Armour Blvd, KCMO 64111, at the east door on McGee Street. We appreciate your feedback, as we attempt to tailor this service to your needs. Please feel free to contact your campus social worker or counselor if you have any questions.
  • Food deliveries will continue to go out between 11am and 1pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  •  Families are also welcome to deliver grocery, toiletry and cleaning supplies for donation at that time.
  • Meals for families will be available. The meals will feed 12 people. They will be available first come, first served.
