Results from the Return to school survey
Dear AL Community,

Below are results of the Return to school parent questionnaire. No final decision has been made at this time as we continue to consult with Children's Mercy Hospital and other health care professionals on our Re-opening task force. Every possible option will be fully considered to make sure that children's needs are taken into consideration as much as possible. Another Google form will be sent later in July for parents to make an informed final choice about the learning model that is best for their children. Furthermore, we will have a virtual town hall meeting to address the questions that may arise before parents commit to any model. The Parent town hall will take place Tuesday, July 14th, 6-7pm on our F B page ( https://www.facebook.com/LafayetteKC/).
In any case, we will strive to mitigate any potential risk so that our learning environment is safe for our students and staff.
Thank you for your support.

Social Work and Counseling CornerSocialCorner

Supporting Each Other:
The pandemic continues to have a devastating effect on the financial situations of many of our AL families.  The   GoFundMe set up by the PTO is still accepting donations to help them stay on their feet.  Thank you so much to those who have made donations already.  These funds have been used to provide assistance with utilities, rent, food, diapers and other basic necessities.   Our community's commitment to taking care of each other is awe inspiring.

Food Service:
Also, we are offering food deliveries between 11-1:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Please email your campus counselor or social worker to sign up for deliveries.  Deliveries currently include sack lunches, family dinners and groceries.
If you would like to pick up food, you may do so between 1-2:00 at Armour on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday.  You do not need to sign up in advance.  Just come to the east door on McGee Street.   We can provide lunches to all children in your family under the age of 18 even if they do not attend AL.

  • Changes have been made to the food pick up service at Armour Campus. We will continue to offer free meals, grocery sacks, and other household goods to families, however some changes will be made to accommodate everyone's evolving needs. We have received increased requests for delivery services, while much fewer families utilize our food pick-up services at Armour than during the Spring.
  • As a result, the hours of pick-up will be changed to 1pm-2pm, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This service will remain at the Armour campus, 201 E. Armour Blvd, KCMO 64111, at the east door on McGee Street. We appreciate your feedback, as we attempt to tailor this service to your needs. Please feel free to contact your campus social worker or counselor if you have any questions.
  • Food deliveries will continue to go out between 11am and 1pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  •  Families are also welcome to deliver grocery, toiletry and cleaning supplies for donation at that time.
  • Meals for families will be available. The meals will feed 12 people. They will be available first come, first served.

  • To help answer your questions, we have created our Covid-19 webpage, which will be updated as we have more information to share.  If, at any time, you have a question, concern or information to share, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, counselors, principals or Mr. Mbengue.
  • We will continue to communicate with families and students through emails, all-calls, website and social media updates. We are also exploring the possibility of text messages with families.
