Dear AL Community,
As we prepare for a successful opening of the 2020-21 school year, Académie Lafayette has developed a school reopening plan to address the needs of all learners, while keeping our students and staff safe and healthy.
I would like to thank the teams and individuals that collaborated on this district reopening plan, including staff, parents, students, reopening taskforce, Board of Education, our Board of Directors, school leaders, Missouri Charter Public School Association, Children's Mercy Hospital, and local health authorities.
Click here to read our district reopening plan. The first day of school will be on Tuesday, August 25th. All students will start online (Phase I).
It is important to note that circumstances can, and likely will, change. Consequently, this plan is fluid and will change and adapt to respond to new information as it becomes available. Uniform Closet
Hello AL Families, We have some information and a plan to help you access the Uniform Closet during this time of social distancing. Next Wednesday, August 5th, if you have any uniform items to Donate to the closets, we will be at Cherry
Campus on the East/Kenwood side of the building between 6-8 pm. Simply place your donations on the ground outside the car and the volunteers (wearing masks/gloves) will retrieve the items from a distance.
And to our new AL Kindergarten families, Welcome! We have a Uniform Closet at all three campuses stocked with gently used items that are Free and available to all AL families. Please feel free to reach out to any of us with questions or concerns. The social workers at all three campuses are also available to help you with your needs.

Social Work and Counseling Corner
It is with heavy hearts that we share that Randal Chestnut, father of Lauren and Madison Chestnut, passed away on July 20th. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. If you would like to help support the family through this extremely difficult time, please visit his
memorial website and make a donation.
When school was first canceled for COVID 19, we set up a food service program for all families in our community. Since March, we have served over 1,800 sack lunches and over 280 family dinners. With the help of Meghan Downey, her donors and volunteers and the Harvesters Back Snack Program, we have given out over 500 bags of groceries. We have had AL staff members volunteer to help with food pick up and delivery. Thank you to Chris Neher, Liz O'Flaherty, Marilyn Hynes, Michele Markham, Jean Pasqualini, Laurent Payelle, Jessica Wallace, Carlos McClain, Roger Goudiaby, Gustavo Diaz and others for helping out. We appreciate you!
When COVID 19 caused school to close, our community responded immediately. The PSTO set up a Gofundme to support families in need. So far, this fund has enabled us to help over 60 families with expenses such as rent, mortgage and utility payments. We have been able to provide basic necessities for their homes, grocery gift cards and Uber cards enabling them to get to work and doctor's appointments. Thank you so much to those who have donated to this fund. You have made a profound impact on the lives of others.
Both the food service and financial assistance programs continue throughout the summer. Please come to the east door of the Armour camps on McGee Street between 1-2:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for lunch, dinner and grocery pick up. You do not need to sign up ahead of time. Contact your campus counselor or social worker if you need deliveries. Please also contact us if you would like to apply for financial assistance.

If, at any time, you have a question, concern or information to share, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, counselors, principals or Mr. Mbengue.
- We will continue to communicate with families and students through emails, all-calls, website and social media updates. We are also exploring the possibility of text messages with families.
