Ready, Set, Sell! It's Raffle Time!

Dear AL Families,

Our famous fundraiser – the $10,000 CASH Raffle, is back! For more than a decade, Académie Lafayette students have reached out to the community offering a chance to take home $10,000. For a $5 donation, a lucky participant has ten chances to win the big bucks.

Proceeds go to support services that are essential to Académie Lafayette – such as transportation, nurses, technology, field trips, teacher supplies – through the Académie Lafayette Annual Fund.

The Annual Fund helps bridge the gap between what we receive in public funding and the cost of running our school. In 2022, Académie Lafayette students raised $81,000. We are raising the bar this year to a goal of $90,000!

Here’s how you can help:

  • Share the raffle link on social media: go.rallyup.com/al2023raffle
  • Print your student’s customized sales flyer (will be emailed to you separately by alasker@academielafayette.org) and give it to your family and friends.
  • Pick up a raffle yard sign from a campus front desk to advertise to the local community.
  • Text AL2023Raffle to 33100 to get the raffle link sent to your phone. You can then easily forward it to more friends and family members!
  • Sign up for a shift to sell tickets in front of a local business.
  • Follow your RallyUp parent registration link (also emailed separately) to see your student’s live sales dashboard.

Please note that there will be a section to enter the student's information at checkout. You can search by first or last name, and credit several students at once. Without the student's name indicated at checkout, the student cannot receive credit for tickets purchased.

Every student who raises $100 by October 6 will receive a free 2023 Raffle T-shirt to wear on Tuesdays all year long. That’s only 200 tickets!

If every student sold a minimum of 200 tickets, Académie Lafayette would raise over $130,000 to support our community.

Bonne chance! Good luck!

HealtheKids Program: Check Your Emails

During our enrollment / re-enrollment period last spring, families were given an opportunity to give consent for their child or children to participate in the HealtheKids school health screenings this fall. Unfortunately, there was a significant percentage of these consents that had errors in the consent date field that we would like to fix so we can provide this valuable service to all our interested families.

New consent forms are being sent to only the affected families via email so that your child(ren) can take part in this free health screening; emails will be sent to the first parent's email on file. If you receive this email, please take a few moments to fill this consent out as soon as possible. If this consent is not completed by September 20, 2023 your child will not be able to participate in this program.

These screenings will take place during the first week of October and results will be sent home in large brightly colored envelopes very shortly after the screenings are completed.

From the Nurses

Thank you families for notifying the nurse at your child's campus when they are out ill. Please check out this helpful link with important information on illnesses going around school, what illnesses require a possible doctor's visit, and the time frame for returning back to school after an illness.

If you have not turned in your students medication or a new asthma or allergy action plan please get those to your campus nurse as well.

Kindly,

Nurse Alexis Schloss- Oak, aschloss@academielafayette.org

Nurse Megan Whisenant- Cherry, mwhisenant@academielafayette.org

Nurse Stephanie Cook - Armour, scook@academielafayette.org

MS Math Club

Middle School Math Club is beginning. Math club is for students who like math and are interested in an extra challenge. It is also the primary means by which Académie Lafayette students prepare for math competitions. We have been quite successful at competitions recently, so come be part of a winning team! I am particularly interested in adding more 6th graders, but any middle schoolers are welcome. Email Bill Kalahurka at bkalahurka@academielafayette.org for more information.

Oak 3rd & 4th Grade Math Club

The lottery for 20 spots in the Oak 3rd and 4th Grade Math Club is open. We will meet weekly on Tuesdays directly after school until 5 pm for six weeks starting Oct. 3rd, with the last session on Nov. 7th. The math club is all about having fun with math and exploring topics that might not be covered in the classroom. Fill out this form to enter the lottery by September 24th. The math club is free. Questions? Email rachel.l.moyer@gmail.com

AL PTO Trash Bag Sale
The ever-popular AL PTO trash bag sale is back!

Online orders are now open.

These durable trash and yard waste bags are available in a variety of sizes and colors for $12 a roll. More details are available on the AL PTO website.
Meals
We need every family, regardless of eligibility status, to fill out the 23-24 free and reduced lunch application (select START MEAL APPLICATION after choosing your language, do not use log in or register). This is a critical step to get many grants and funding. If you have questions, you can call 816-743-4973 or email foodservice@academielafayette.org.
Need help? Come fill out your application in person at Meet the Teacher night. A food service employee will be there to help you at each campus.

All meals can be paid for by logging into your child's Tyler account, where you will also find a current balance.

Breakfast and lunch menus are published on our website once received from the catering company. You can find more information about meals on that page as well.
