Campus Safety - We Need Your Help!

Dear AL Community,

The first few weeks of school have flown by and the children have settled well into their routine. We know it is harder for parents to change their routines but would like to issue these reminders for all three of our campuses:
  • Obey the stop signs and other posted signs around the school. Many of our students walk to school. Please do your part in keeping them safe. Do not block driveways.
  • Some of our teachers and staff are helping with drop-off and pick-up outside. Please follow their guidance to keep traffic flowing and everyone safe.
  • Please stay in your car, pull up as far as you can go, and refrain from walking your child up to the door. Once your child has been dropped off, please keep going so that traffic flow is not impeded.
We appreciate all of the parents helping their kids follow the masking guidelines. We know it is not always easy with the little ones but proper mask-wearing is essential to avoid exposures, quarantines, and cases. We are still working with a few students on proper masking. We need your help to stay open, please keep practicing and reinforcing at home! Students that do not wear their masks correctly will be given a warning and parents will be informed. After a few occurrences parents may be asked to come pick up their child.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Have a great three-day weekend!

Hello Cherry Parents!

It was great to see so many of you online for Student Success Night. We are settling into our good routines. We've seen improvement with masks and uniforms (remember- no blue pants, shorts or dresses). Arrival and dismissal are also getting better, but we still have some room for growth. Please help us with a safe and efficient drop off and pick-up by following these guidelines:

Arrival:
- Do not park curbside on either Cherry or Kenwood.  That is for drop-off only.
- Please make sure to pull all the way forward and get kids ready with masks and backpacks to exit the car quickly.

Dismissal:
- You must display the yellow sign provided by the school. We don't always recognize every parent or car, and using the "official" signs helps us make sure kids are going to the right person. If you need extras-  call the office.
-Construction on Cherry is almost over! So- please enter the car rider line from Cherry only. The merge between Cherry and Gilham is one of the main reasons we slow down the car rider line.

Thanks so much!

Bon weekend,
Mme Royce

Annual $10,000 Cash Raffle Fundraiserraffle

The Annual $10,000 Cash Raffle Fundraiser Event will kick-off on Friday, September 10th with a T-Shirt design contest launching on Wednesday, September 8th! This is an opportunity for ALL Académie Lafayette students to help raise funds to bridge the gap between what we receive in public funding and the financial requirements of running our school.

Académie Lafayette will be raffling for the exciting cash prize of $10,000 to the lucky
winner. Raffle tickets are $5.00 each with a goal for each student to sell at least 20 (twenty) tickets. This year, each $5.00 ticket sold to the same individual will provide that individual 10 entries for a chance to win in the drawing! Students who raise money will earn prizes, top sellers for each grade will earn prizes, top class per campus will get a pizza party as well as milestones throughout the fundraising event will earn prizes! The winner of the $10,000 cash prize will be drawn through a randomized algorithm generator used by RallyUp and announced on October 23rd via email. Masking GuidelinesMasking

According to the CDC's COVID-19 k-12 guidance, proper masking is crucial to keep kids in school. This is the case now more than ever with the recent increase in the number of COVID-19 delta variant cases in Kansas City. We are asking all parents to join us in encouraging proper mask wearing, as well as provide a clean and proper fitting mask for their students each day. A properly fitting mask should cover the nose, mouth and chin; It should not gape on the sides, and should remain on the bridge of the nose at all times, even when the wearer is speaking. Students should change masks daily if possible, but should not be worn for longer than 2-3 days without washing. If a mask is visibly soiled, has tears or holes, or has a vent or valve it will be placed in the students backpack and a paper mask will be supplied to the child to complete the school day.

Our school nursing team is working closely with teachers and administration to identify where improvements can be made for the safety of our students, and we will be contacting parents of students who have been identified as having concerns with consistent masking or poorly fitting masks.
