Hello New Students and Families!

I'm excited to get to know you all as you transition to Animas High School next fall. As the director of our Career & College Counseling department, my role includes helping students work towards postsecondary goals while also supporting families as they help students navigate the choices ahead. Academic advising for students is an important piece of that work and I want to be sure you're getting the help you need as we create student schedules for the 2023/24 school year.

We hope that you're already reviewing the 2023/24 AHS Course Catalog and starting to consider elective choices, as outlined in this letter we sent out last week. As you weigh your options, please review the Guide to Course Selection and College Readiness together to learn more about what colleges look for in their admissions processes.

On Monday, May 22, you will receive step-by-step instructions via email outlining how to make course requests for next year, using Infinite Campus. This email on May 22 will also include our Elective Schedule, which will let you know which electives will be offered in each period.

Join me for an Online Academic Advising Session on Monday, May 22 at 5:30pm via meet.google.com/jvy-gsno-trn to learn more and get questions answered. We'll record the session and share it out via the weekly News from the Nest, in case you're not able to attend.

Our Registrar, Maureen Truax is available to answer questions about how credits transfer to AHS from other high school programs and what courses transfer students should take to make sure they are fulfilling AHS graduation requirements. You can reach her at registrar@animashighschool.com.

Feel free to contact me at collegeandcareer@animashighschool.com if you have individual questions about concurrent enrollment opportunities or how course selection connects to college or career goals.

I look forward to connecting with you and learning more about how I can support!
