Welcome from the Provost
Welcome back! I hope you found time this summer to rest and reset. You deserved it. I want to thank our faculty for their hard work on scholarship and teaching this summer; your accomplishments reflect positively on all of us.
It was a busy summer on campus; we:
  • Celebrated the Class of 2019 and others with a new and growing collection of stories that illustrate how Pacific prepares its students for success.
  • Received our WSCUC reaccreditation action for a term of eight years. All of us send our thanks to the steering committee for its dedication and hard work, and, really, the entire Pacific community is to be commended for its support of and immersion in the WSCUC process.
  • Formally transitioned University College and the Benerd School of Education into a single new unit, the Benerd College.
  • Welcomed new faculty members and new and continuing students back to Pacific.
  • Launched Thriving Tigers Initiative
Last year was a challenging year as we said goodbye to beloved colleagues and friends, but I am convinced that we have much to look forward to as we work together to provide an exceptional learning environment for our students. I appreciate all that you do to support our students and their success in the classroom and beyond. I am certain that our students have a distinct and excellent learning experience in our classrooms and offices, and, having just taught two classes myself last spring, I know how much work it takes to deliver an engaging, Pacific-quality class.
As I begin my year as your Interim Provost, I hope you take some time to come by and say hello. I love hearing about how our students, faculty and staff are doing. I learned a lot from the faculty whom I bumped into this summer, and I look forward to collaborating with you to elevate Pacific.
