Earlier this month, Senior Consultant Mahauganee Shaw (pictured left) represented Academic Search at the Summer Institute for the New Leadership Academy (NLA) in Salt Lake City, Utah. NLA is committed to helping diversify the leadership pipeline in higher education to better reflect the students and communities that we serve and annually selects a class of Fellows who are campus professionals and scholars from across campus units primed for advancement into more senior leadership roles. The Fellows gathered with their coaches, facilitators, and facilitators-in-training for a week-long deep dive into a guided curriculum that challenged them to tap into their personal power to center equity in their leadership.
Dr. Shaw joined the group for the latter half of the week and had two opportunities to present to the Fellows. The first presentation, “Leadership During Times of Crisis on Campus,” stemmed from Dr. Shaw’s research on emergency management in higher education. The second presentation, “Preparing for the Next Stage of Your Career,” provided the Fellows an opportunity to review their own CVs and reflect on their positioning and preparation for advancement to more senior levels of leadership.
