Happy Holidays from the Academy
All of us at the Academy want to thank all of you for a great year! We wish you a happy holiday season, warm winter break, and look forward to seeing and working with you in 2019!

What is education like in Costa Rica compared to the United States? Join Jairo Viales as he shares some of the values and practices of educators in his home country and enjoy some traditional Costa Rican fare and fellowship!

As we end the fall semester and begin preparations for the spring, consider attending the Communication Arts GIFTS Workshop and share your favorite idea, exercise, rubric, or teaching technique. The session also includes a GoReact/Video Recording System round table.

Spring 2019 Faculty/Staff Orientation Week is Tuesday, January 8 - Saturday, January 12. The schedule is now available.

Teaching with Geospatial Technologies

The Teaching with Geospatial Technologies Community of Practice brings together faculty who have an active interest in the use and infusion of GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS (Global Positioning Systems), and Earth Imagery in the curriculum. The CoP's goal is to promote the use of these technologies by faculty from diverse disciplines across the college and to promote collaboration among the CoP members.

This semester the CoP reached out to faculty from all division to find out who might be interested in having a GIS activity created for at least one course. The response was stronger than expected with 20 departments expressing interest in a GIS project.
