Remembering Craig Stettner
The Academy would like to acknowledge the loss of our kind and caring colleague, Craig Stettner. As we begin the semester without Craig, we will all miss his smile and gentle personality.

Grief counselors will be on campus 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m., Thursday, January 10 and Friday, January 11, in Building L, Room L201, for any employee who would like to drop by to speak with someone.

Similar sessions are being scheduled for students and support is available for them through the counselors.

GECs for this semester include: Teaching Online Successfully, Engaging Students in Diverse Perspectives, and Collaborative Action Research for Innovation.

The Harper College Syllabus webpage has a template that was designed to meet accessibility guidelines, example syllabi, and helpful grab-and-go syllabus verbiage. The resources are all up-to-date!

The next application cycle for the Level II Adjunct Faculty Engagement Program begins soon! The Intent to Apply form will be available on the Level II webpage on Wednesday, January 23.

Want to develop or pilot a program, but lack the funding to support it? RFE grants are an excellent way to develop, implement, and evaluate creative and innovative ideas. Two upcoming workshops are being offered to help applicants with completing the grant application.

Student Learning in the CNA Lab

Student learning was on display recently in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, when the new Lab Simulation project launched. For the first time, the CNA students are using simulation as part of their classroom learning activities.

Congratulations to the 2018 Glenn A. Reich Memorial Faculty Award Winner!
Congratulations to Brett Fulkerson-Smith, Ph.D., winner of the 2018 Glenn A. Reich Memorial Faculty Award for Instructional Technology! Brett, an Associate Professor in the Philosophy Department, regularly teaches critical thinking. A key feature of his course is argument mapping, a way to visually represent the structure of arguments.
