Bamboo Bay Now Open
Bamboo Bay, the 7,000-square-foot expansion to Tropics Indoor Waterpark is now open.  Holiday hours are available online for both Tropics and Bamboo Bay.

Bamboo Bay Regular Hours
  • Monday - Thursday: 5 - 8 p.m.
  • Friday: 5 - 9:45 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. - 7:45 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Holiday Hours
City offices will be closed on December 24 and 25 for Christmas and January 1 for New Year's Day. 

The Community Center will have the following special hours during the holidays:
  • December 24: 5 a.m. - Noon
  • December 25: Closed
  • December 31: 5 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • January 1: 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.

 

 


Recycle your Christmas Tree

After the holidays residents can recycle their live evergreen trees at the Shoreview Maintenance Center. Trees can be dropped off during regular business hours at the center. Please be sure to remove all items such as ornaments, tinsel, lights, and stands.

Family New Year's Eve Party

Parks & Recreation's annual Family New Year's Eve Party will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Dec. 31. Fun inflatables, face painting, a magician, crazy hair and of course, an epic balloon drop turn the community center into New Year's headquarters. 

Date: December 31
Time: 5-8 p.m.
Ages: All
Fee: $12 at the door, $10 youth advance, $8 adult advance.

City Council
The City Council took the following actions at their December 17, 2018 meeting:
  • The council approved a number of items related to the 2019 budget and tax levy including:
    • Amending the 2019 debt levies
    • Adopting the 2019 tax levy
    • Amending the 2019 budget
    • Amending the Capital Improvement Program through 2023
    • Establishing 2019 utility rates
  • Approved the 2018 comprehensive plan, Destination Shoreview 2040. The plan provides a long-term vision that guides land use and development. The city will send the plan to the Metropolitan Council for approval.
  • Approved a contract for fire protection services with Lake Johanna Fire Department (LJFD). LJFD has provided fire protection services to the city, Arden Hills, and North Oaks for more than 70 years.
