Accessing Talent Through Technology

Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association Introduces an Innovative Digital Talent Platform for the Hospitality Industry

(MISSISSAUGA, ON—August 15, 2022) The Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association (ORHMA) today announced the launch of a new partnership with FindWRK to introduce Ontario’s hospitality industry to a new and innovative digital platform connecting workers and employers.

“In no uncertain terms, Ontario’s restaurants and hotels are essential components of the economy and our local communities across the province. This industry relies on a people-centric workforce to deliver our value proposition to our guests” stated Tony Elenis, President and CEO of ORHMA. “Leaders have speculated about the future of work for years. It is finally here and we need new tools and resources to meet the moment we are in. We believe FindWRK is just that. People are looking for jobs that match their values and their competing life demands. This can be hard to accept, but the more our industry can learn to accommodate potential workers, the sooner we can build the sustainable workforce we need to shape a bright new future for our hospitality businesses. Partnering with FindWRK is just one of many workforce development initiatives ORHMA will be leading over the next several years. We understand that complex problems require comprehensive solutions, and we are here to lead the way.”

FindWRK flips the traditional recruitment process on its head. FindWRK allows job seekers to build a detailed profile. Instead of employers posting opportunities and hoping for qualified applications, they can search and filter worker profiles and reach out proactively, finding workers more efficiently and creating human connections immediately.

Michael Wallace, CEO of FindWRK explained, “The current recruiting process is frustrating for both the employer and the candidate. Hirers are forced to spend all their time as marketers rather than building relationships with prospective employees. Candidates face an endless string of interactions with a computer or applicant tracking system before they talk to a real human. These relationships start on the wrong foot almost by default. FindWRK is designed to help hiring managers spend more of their time on the human side of their job, without sacrificing the efficiency of good technology. Employers can generate short lists of qualified candidates immediately - based on skill set, experience, availability, location, and more - and only connect with candidates who respond. You can be having a conversation with a qualified candidate in less than an hour. And a recruiting interaction that starts with a human connection generates a higher conversion rate and a better retention rate. The FindWRK team is incredibly excited about working with ORHMA’s members to change the way they recruit.”

Ontario’s hospitality sector continues to struggle with labour supply needed to meet demand. FindWRK will become a key tool for hospitality employers to access talent and for talent to access opportunities in the hospitality industry.
