ACCREDITATION UPDATE
Your Roadmap to Successfully Navigating SACSCOC Reaffirmation of Accreditation

Welcoming our SACSCOC On-Site Reaffirmation Committee

Georgia Southern is excited to announce that we have successfully completed our Off-Site Review, marking a critical milestone in our reaffirmation process with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Accreditation is important, as it ensures we meet the highest standards of educational excellence, enabling our faculty and staff to receive grants and our students to access federal and state financial aid.

On January 27th, we submitted additional supporting documentation, as well as our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), to gear up for the next big milestone: our SACSCOC On-Site Review. On Monday, March 10th, Georgia Southern will proudly welcome our SACSCOC On-Site Reaffirmation Committee as part of our institutional reaffirmation of accreditation.

During their visit, these Committee members will engage with our dedicated faculty, staff, and students regarding US Department of Education standards as well as our QEP. The visit will conclude with a briefing on Thursday, March 14th. After a final review by the SACSCOC Board of Trustees in December, the Board will announce its decision on our accreditation status at the 2025 Annual Meeting. Let's continue to strive for excellence and make Georgia Southern proud!

Time until our On-Site Review as of 2/4/2025. View live countdown here.

STATUS UPDATE: We are in Phase 5

The On-Site Reaffirmation Visit from March 10th-13th will mark another milestone before our last phase of the Reaffirmation process, Phase 6: Response and Reaffirmation, in which the SACSCOC Board of Trustees will complete the third review in the reaffirmation process and make a decision regarding our reaffirmation of accreditation.

Our Quality Enhancement Plan:

Ready Day 1 Connect

The topic of our Quality Enhancement Plan, Ready Day 1 Connect (RD1C), has been identified and will be discussed with our SACSCOC Reaffirmation Committee during the upcoming On-Site Review in March. Based on committee feedback, including that of a QEP Evaluator, Georgia Southern will refine our implementation plan and officially launch RD1C. Below is an excerpt from our QEP. For a deeper dive into the development and implementation of the QEP, please see the link below.

Georgia Southern University's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Ready Day 1 Connect (RD1C), helps students identify and demonstrate their existing professional skills in job-seeking scenarios by directly connecting their experiences to explicit career competencies throughout their academic journey. Although students develop competencies through their disciplinary coursework, internal and external surveys indicate a disconnect between this skill development and graduates' ability to articulate these competencies in professional contexts. RD1C addresses this disconnect, particularly in critical thinking, communication, and professionalism, through three primary goals: (1) increase students' ability to recognize career competencies they develop through academic experiences; (2) enhance students' confidence in articulating these competencies in professional contexts; and (3) improve employers' perception of graduates' ability to demonstrate career readiness.
