Join us for the Acoustic Vocal Pedagogy Workshop and Online Course.


In person workshop: Monday, July 29, 2024 - Friday, August 2, 2024 at the University of Michigan Wallgreen Center, Ann Arbor, MI. Reduced cost housing available on campus.


Online course: Opens June 1st with asynchronous videos and synchronous online tutorials, office hours, and lessons.


This workshop is appropriate for a range of participants from the singing, voice teaching, choral conducting, SLP/SLT, Singing Voice Specialist, and classroom voice pedagogy teacher communities. (18 years old +). We address basic acoustical and perceptual concepts and demonstrate application to a range of singing styles and genres. We are fiercely inclusive and affirming of our students and colleagues from the trans and gender-non-conforming communities and will encourage you to encounter their voices outside of the historical binary found in many singing traditions.

Five full days of lectures, masterclasses, workshops, and small group and individual lessons exploring the acoustical and perceptual landscape of singing and singing training. Held at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater, and Dance from July 29th - August 2nd, 2024. Early bird pricing good through April 1st.

Acoustic Vocal Pedagogy Online Course 2024


Ten hours of prerecorded lectures from our faculty, supplemented by reflection questions, subject matter quizzes, and online office hours (June, 2024 only) for small groups discussions, application, and lessons. Private lessons will be available for a nominal fee. While not as comprehensive as the in person workshop, this material will introduce basic concepts related to the acoustical and perceptual landscape of singing and singing training, and will offer participants the chance to explore these ideas online with faculty and other participants. Early bird pricing good through April 1st.
