Holding Onto What Is Good: The 113th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia |
October 28, 9:30 am | Online
As we await the election of the next Bishop of Olympia, like the ancient Christian Community at Thessalonica awaiting a changed world, we continue pressing forward with the good and important work of our Diocese. This includes strengthening racial justice and racial equity, developing more faithful, healthy, and effective faith communities within their contexts, and making greater progress on creation care and climate justice. In this time of active waiting, we “hold fast to what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21) within our Diocese and, at the same time, prepare ourselves for a new season.
Join us online on October 28, beginning at 9:30 am, for the 113th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia - a day to do the good work of the Diocese as we elect new leaders and vote on important resolutions for the life of our Diocese.
You can view the Convention livestream, download Convention documents, and explore the Convention liturgies all from our Convention website below.

Diocesan Profile Launched! | The Bishop Search Committee is pleased to announce the launch of the diocesan profile. This milestone takes us into the next phase of our search process…attracting candidates. The profile is comprised of a broad range of information gathered from clergy, parishioners, diocesan staff, and so much more. The result is an extensive picture of who we are, where we live, who we serve, and what are our strengths and weaknesses. Importantly, it defines who we want in a leader who will build upon what we have done well and will take us into the future.
Apply to Join the Diocese of Olympia’s Transition Committee | The Joint Board is forming a Transition Committee of both clergy and lay, who are team players, well-organized, and able to make a significant time commitment. In addition to monthly Zoom team meetings and Zoom subcommittee meetings as needed, the Transition Committee will plan the meet-and-greets with bishop nominees candidates, plan the electing convention, assist in planning the consecration weekend, including the liturgy, receptions, and other activities, and support the candidates and eventual bishop-elect as we walk through this process together. Following the election, the Transition Committee will assist the bishop-elect and their family as they transition from their current ministry to the Diocese.
