Dear Beloved Community,

Greetings and Happy New Year! We extend our sincere gratitude for your unwavering support in helping us achieve our end of year fundraising goals for 2023.

As we embark on a new year, we bring urgent information to your attention regarding asylum seekers and vulnerable communities. We invite you to read below for a critical update and take immediate action to stand in solidarity with those affected.

We affirm the sacredness of every individual, across all borders. We advocate for the right of people to seek safety and believe human life must be at the core of government policies.

The White House and Congress is currently contemplating a legislative deal tying $106 billion of supplemental funding for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan with permanent and harmful restrictions on the U.S. asylum system. This proposal may mandate the detention of every family or individual, including children, until the end of their immigration case. It includes permanent Asylum Transit Bans, Title 42 expansion, and elimination of Immigration Parole Authority, adversely affecting immigrants and asylum seekers.

As Congress negotiates this deal, which may soon be finalized, we urgently need your action to prevent policies endangering lives, separating families, and increasing detention and deportation.

Urgently, we need your help to tell the Biden administration to push back against harmful asylum restrictions. Join us and our national faith and coalition partners, Welcome with Dignity and Detention Watch Network, to protect immigrants and human lives.

Take Action!

Committed to addressing forced migration’s root causes with dignity and protection, we oppose additional restrictions on asylum. Guided by our faiths, we work to address the underlying issues like war and violence and seek effective solutions that do not perpetuate further harm and trauma.

Take action to tell Congress and the Biden Administration to reject extreme anti-immigrant policies. Read more in this FAQ.

Please share this action with your networks and stay informed.

“IM4HI and fellow faith-rooted organizers stand together for asylum seekers and immigrants"

As faith communities, we must prevent harm and uphold well-being. Join us in urging Congress to reject these anti-immigrant policies. Together, we can make a difference and protect the rights and lives of those seeking asylum!

In Solidarity,
